Missed an opportunity...

?

Where are you looking in terms of this season after these last two games?

  1. Still looking up at Europe...

  2. Now looking down at the relegation 'dogfight'...

  3. Looking no further than 8th-12th...

Europe's not beyond hope, still 27 points to play for. We get some players back in the next couple of weeks we will start picking up points again. Certainly well out of the dog fight, too many teams below us are going to drop points.

    Sunderland didn't lose, they drew.

I can still see us pushing for Europe, just need to be more clinical.

Quite high actually, whilst most choose to strengthen their squads in January. Through no fault of their own Newcastle's became a great deal weaker. The team that did strengthen and are now starting to play well are West Ham. Fulham have got Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora back from lengthy lay-offs. West Brom have had a change of manager.

All I am pointing out is that there is a little bit of concern creeping in. Although only losing 2 games out of 10 sounds good, we've only picked up 14 points from 30. Looking back at those 10 fixtures we've chucked at least 10 points away.
West Ham have picked up 18 points from their last 10 premier league games. My reckoning is that West Ham are currently playing better than us and are only 5 points behind us. They also have some "favourable" games to come, especially in May! There's an example of one team that can easily catch us!

Now I don't we'll be relegated but think that the relegation dogfight could still be part of our season!
Yes they drew this weekend but if you care to read the original post properly you'd have noticed that it's focused around a 2 week period of "pivital games".
