I may have to join in and provide reinforcement. Not to toot my own horn too much, but I'm quite the debater. My weakness is that if someone isn't listening to me I can get quite aggressive, not physically, I just start disrespecting whoever I'm arguing with and playing down their opinion. Usually because if they won't listen to my opinion they don't deserve their own.

I'm 110% sure that I DO have Scots blood. My family has been moving slowly south for generations, my Grandad's surname was Malcolm and his mother was from Durham. Me and my sister and my cousins kids all have ginger hair. Not sure how far back I'd have to go to find those hailing from Scotland, but they're there somewhere.

    Thank you.

I have really tried to reason with posters on JA606 after being asked to do so but those that ask either do not participate in the ensuing discussion or choose to respond with immature non-responsive, one-liner retorts.

I am happy to be corrected if mistaken and have been by some from time to time.

I will concede that said posters have won in their battle with me as I don't have the time or inclination to continue banging my head against the wall. If they wish to continue with their desire to blindly believe in the current ownership and management in ignorance there is nothing I or anyone else can do for them.

JLA: I look forward to reading your views on here. Thank you for posting the meeting thread last week. I do realise you were all frustrated with the technical problems broadcasting wise. I'm sure all will done to make this doesn't happen again.

Cozer - even if the ustream does not work, there are opportunities for contingencies.

First, the meeting could be recorded and set up as a podcast for people to download from the website.

Second, issues can be tweeted and facebooked, and questions can come in in real time that can be debated and discussed. All on the podcast.

Third, it could be videoed if anyone has a good camera, and could then be available for download too.

Fourth, the wifi connection at the pub needs to be cable (eg BT Infinity, Virgin etc) rather than just through the telephone line. And preferably not done via a wireless connection, but via the plug-in line. This can be done easily with two powerline adapters. If the pub only has talktalk or sky or some other ultra cheap "up to 8mb through the phone line" internet connection, there is little chance of streaming it. <ok>

Something that is worth looking into is an improvement of the website. I'd like to see a significantly more active forum, that way it's easier to see what key points are, what people are discussing and what direction the fans are heading in. With proper moderation, any trolling can be minimised, and having it on the LUST website would mean it's all happening in one place, somewhat alleviating the need to lurk around other forums like this, JA606, WACCOE, etc. for information on what the fans think.

Plus it gives me another place to waste time.

Background in IT doesn't necessarily mean website management. I'm a programmer with a years experience of Javascript and CGI and I still wouldn't want to try set up a website.

No? It's easy, plenty of help out there, Microsoft visual Webb developer, loads forums, all free. Need to be creative rather than a programmer nowadays and prepared to work at it

Best websites are programmed, not created in a tool.

web dev tools add so much junk in that slows the page down, causes bugs errors and all sorts of stuff.

You not built any ASP.NET websites using Microsoft Visual Web Developer and SQL Server for databases then, Marko?

It's all just "programming" but made much easier because a lot of the difficult techniques are brought together by the system. You still need to do a lot of "programming" and get to grips with elements of either C# or Visual Basic.

And that's just a single product. There are many others. You can also go into the programming end and fiddle with it to get it exactly how you want it.

But you don't have to develop websites by programming - although that is exactly how I did my first html website.

I prefer simplicity that allows my creativity to flow, ratehr than getting bogged down in trying to programme my own CSS etc
