I think that's what all teams will be doing. A core squad of 16 or so and the rest made up with youth ranks.

Think its time Papa maybe had a look at upgrading our youth Facilities aint we a category C? if thats his plan need some quality youth coming through with the best facilities on offer to give them every chance of first team football.
Obviously hes pumped plenty of cash in, Just think if we go up it has to be a priority.

That's fine, I think SB agrees with you. But my opinion is that Koren playing up front loses possession instantly every time he receives it and neither of them are what you'd call reliable in the box.

If Simpson doesn't score enough goals or 'even close' then what is close? How many goals is enough? Simpson has 6 Aluko has 8 and Simpson has 7 assists to Aluko's 3. Simpson has been involved in more goals than anyone. So Aluko must be pretty **** too yeah?

As for Fryatt <Not safe for OLM>how many times last season did he go through one on one and fail to score?</Not safe for OLM>

That calendar year thing was stupid, all the good strikers from the first half of the year left halfway through to play in the PL. It means nothing.

Very very harsh this. Yes saturday was poor but there was a little bit of a defence for them, only a little like.
They can make up for this by doing much better next tuesday.

Has anyone thought though that this is all part of a cunning plan to get these players extra competative games ?
Orient x 2, Barnsley x 2 and then a round 5 game ? Nothing in football would surprise me no matter how silly it appears. On saturday Hull City were that bad in the main that you just have to wonder why ?? <whistle>

On the new contarcts I would keep Macca - Oli and Simpson but on reduced deals as squad players.

Simpson is a good footballer but not a consistent enough scorer & that's what we're paying him for.

Prossy isn't brave enough in the air & gets beaten too often to headers, Chillo risked all & so I'd have to agree to Chillo or Whitehurst coaching him before we give up on him.

    Keep McShane

    sell the rest

The problem with our academy and reserve sides is the standard of the leagues they play in is absolute sh**e and the gap to first team football is too great.

The problem is the Youth team can only play teams in the same category (cat 3) which is Scunny,Grimsby Burton Albion ect..
Although we beat Villa away last season and Swansea this year.
Just to invest enough for cat 2 would make a massive difference , we would then be playing Sheff Utd/wed ,Leeds ,
Forrest teams who we SHOULD be competing with.

Surely our development squad and facilities will be invested in if we get promoted

    Fingers crossed?
It's the way forward Middlesborough invested £6m in 1st team and youth facility's in 2002 and have received £34m in fees for academy players since then.

I'm sure The Allams would want to encourage local stars of the future
