I agree he has limitations as a manager but I do think he will be able to get us up eventually but patience will be required particularly as our budget is minimal compared to some teams. But actually I think given the situation I'm in very confident that he is more likely than most to get us out of this league as I think his limitations aren't as exposed in this league and perhaps could be considered strengths. It's in the PL where his limitations are really shown IMO.
I do rate MM as a manager. My only (small) problem with his tactics is his refusal to change the defensive structure of the team. As many have said previously, with the players at the club, it must be worth at least experimenting with 3-5-2 formation but MM always plays 4 defenders (either 4-4-2 or 4-5-1) & to accomodate this formation, he plays a CB at RB. He is limited to what he can do due to financial constraints but at times, he can be too rigid with his lineups. BTW, I don't believe there are too many other managers (realistic names only) who could have got us in the top half
“Yes i was starting to think maybe i could be wrong about Mick but it didnt take long to come to my senses and realise that it was only a flash in the pan” Ahhhh Spanish, how I have missed you. Like I miss my ex girlfriends very irritating mother from three years ago on a daily basis. Spanish, what the hell do you expect Mick to achieve, and what would please you? I will agree with you on the fact mick has limitations, however as do most and I cannot think of a single manager who I'd rather have the job at present. After the Jewell and Keane fiasco to be 10th in January is causing me be near in a coma/ nervous breakdown. I will take his " limitations " over either of the previous two clowns, and Magilton for that matter. The way I see it, he has taken us from BOTTOM of the table, with the squad inundated with loanees, completely reduced the wage bill, sign a squad of free transfers with only £20,000 spent on a Docherty who I have heard very little about since. Is Mick going to be backed heavily in January? No. Now, let’s think about who we’re up against this season shall we. Clubs by and large spending one hell of a lot more than us. Take Nottingham Forest for instance. Blackburn have Jordan Rhodes on approximately £40,000 p/w. Should we be any higher than our current league position!? For the first time since 07/08 if memory serves me correct, our season is VERY MUCH alive. We’re five points off the play offs, that’s with as you Spanish and others have rightly pointed out one win in nine. However, that Millwall loss is our first on the road in some time. The away form/results this season have been fine, home has been very substandard. Now clearly like any other town fan, I am irritated when we lose. It ruins my evening, and often early Sunday. Not that I often agree with Warky on here, infact that is a rarity, however he is smack bang right about you Spanish. You LOVE to be right. You will not write anything positive on here should we win under a manager you don’t like. However, you LOVE LOVE LOVE to write negative posts when we lose. So in future, after another one of your pathetic child like “mummy I want that toy”, not being aloud it, and throwing things on the floor and crying posts, like Warky I will disregard and not respond to it. Should you see fit to actually be a balanced person, and write something of note/ relevance then sure I will use this forum how it’s intended. Spanish, I recommend you support Barcelona or Real Madrid. Support and stick by a top team where your “ team” wins 80% or so of the games. I am not sure Spanish and Ipswich Town is a particularly good fit whatsoever.
I often skip through long winded post like the above one but I'm glad I read the whole thing.....spot on IMO.
