8 CENTRAL midfielders injured. Heard this a few times today. Surely some poetic licence there. How can you have 8 1st team squad central midfielders, let alone have that many of them injured?
Absolutely. If correct, then it must be the most imbalanced squad of all time

We have Matazo, Lundstram, Crooks, Slater, Palmer, Hadzhi and Gyabi who can all play CM - am I forgetting anyone? That's 7.
We’ve probably only got 7 because Matazo is injured. Plus not sure you’d class Palmer as cm. I think you’ve used the same poetical licence as they have (and still not got 8.)

I'd class any midfielder who doesn't play wide (i.e. a winger) as a central midfielder, regardless of if they're a 10, 6 or 8. Of course if you have 6 senior pros in the squad and they're all injured you'll draft u21s in (we even had one on our bench) and if they're then injured too you'd count them too so I could see how they could get to 8.

I saw a list which did have 8 players on there. Although I couldn't tell you if they're all first teamers. One of them was called Billy Mitchell, who I'm pretty sure spends more time in the Queen Vic than playing football.
He also set up the American air force and upset naval big wigs by showing aircraft could destroy battleships.

Mid December, in the play offs. Is this actually achievable? Looking at the quality of the league this year it looks like a good opportunity. Just not sure we have the depth. Our first 11 is as strong as anyone in the league. I think we’d have to be pretty lucky with injuries to maintain a play off push though.
Just think, most of us would have been happy with survival this season given everything that went on.
Dare to dream I suppose. UTT

I think what's really impressed me about this squad so far this season is every time I think 'ah, that's it our summer/injuries/manager has caught up with us, it was a fun start whilst it lasted' they suddenly bounce back and get a couple of good wins.

The fact we've picked up 2 wins against teams in decent form after that horror show against Boro is very very encouraging. You wouldn't bet against us winning the next two either.

It might not last but I do think we are in with a good shout of the play offs.

After the Boro defeat, great credit to the players and coaches for turning in 2 wins and probably the best 90-minute performances so far.

What a difference Belloumi and Millar being back, they bring a totally different dimension to the team.

So pleased for KJ getting his 2 goals, in his post match interview with Tiger+ he had high praise for Oli, saying he is a great player and an even better person. He has helped him and I think you can see his movement in the box has improved.

I thought the midfield worked well with Amir/Slater and Crooks, all 3 having good games.

Special mention for Pandur who also kept us in the game early on.

All the back for had good games. It was interesting defensively at free kicks setting a much higher line than before, and it worked well. Apart from Coyle getting caught out for their goal, he had a good game and redeemed himself with the cross for Oli's goal.

So far so good, lots to like about this team and coaching staff. Acun may have got it wrong on occasions, but he seems to have found just what we all have been looking for in a manager.
