That being said, Haaland didn’t even get a caution for this, I think. There’s a lot of inconsistency about high boots and what players are within their rights to challenge for.

So Oscar has his back to the defence and jumps to bring it down , the defender sees Oscar not going with his head and stoops to head it - who is at fault - think it’s very 50/50 Wally but then I am biased

Almost identical incident in the Torquay v Derby game resulted in a yellow card. I thought it was a red card yesterday but if today’s wasn’t then Oscars shouldn’t have been.

If you watch again, the referee hadn't reached for any card until he looked down and saw blood, then he saw red....

That's exactly why he gave the red card and it's piss poor.

I’m certain the extent of the injury influenced his decision a lot. Another day and their player comes away relatively unscathed and it’s probably a yellow for Oscar. Their lad’s face was a mess after the game and needed stitches. If one of ours came away looking like he did after a high boot, I think most of us would say a red card was right.

It’s one of those where I personally can’t argue with the decision, even if there was no malice in it. I’ll be annoyed if it’s 3-match ban though.

And at least 2 incidents of dangerously high feet in Spurs Liverpool game. Neither even given.

Just watched the highlights, seems to me it wasn't until the ref saw blood that he decided red. Very unsatisfactory, right or wrong.

The red card was harsh, misplaced, in my opinion, but after the game, we need to leave it, publicly.

We deffo don’t need to get all bleary eyed and Bristol City about it.

Missed the game as I was at my sister's wedding, but I said on the podcast last week that a 0-0 would almost be the greatest result Liam could produce to demonstrate his ability, as we have struggled so much for a CS. To do so even with 10 men was brilliant.

I don’t see how, unless there’s an appeal panel that has its own rules, if it’s a red card it’s serious foul play which carries a fixed 3 game ban.

There is no grey area to be subjective about whether it was malicious or intentional, only whether the red card was justified or not.

Yeah not sure we're going to have much luck with that. He kind of paints himself into a corner by saying he accepts it's a red (although he then uses examples where it was only a yellow, so not sure what he's actually trying to argue).

You can appeal the length of the ban, there's quite a few examples of a three match ban being reduced to two matches on appeal, less so a one match.
