If we go all season without an away win then look no further than the wasted chance tonight.
Millwall were woeful. City had umpteen chances. Millwall were gifted 2 goals by a pathetic defence.
Hoilett going off was a blow as Murphy was atrocious.

Why did Etheridge and the back 4 always send long high balls over the top toward Whyte? The guy was beaten every time in the air by that tall left back of theirs.

Whyte, and Hoilett for that matter need the ball on the floor. It was obvious they had the beating of their fullbacks, yet we persisted with the attempted ball "over the top" throughout the game. It was the same with Ward who is not an out and out target man. He was chasing lumped balls all night. Why did we play Tomlin with that game plan?

I'm sorry, but tactically we are in the ****. We have players in the squad who are capable of far better than the performances they're turning in. That's down to the tactical ineptitude being displayed and which they are obvioulsy encouraged to employ by the management.

OS I take your point but the reasons we didn’t beat a poor Millwall team (like at Hull) was due to (1) our defensive (Bennett, Morrison and Flint) errors and (2) the inability to put away 3-4 straight forward chances.

The irony is City are only 4 points off the play offs playing rubbish (granted it’ll be more after tonight) and if (a big if) they can put a winning run together they’d be up there.

However in reality it’s not going to happen whilst City keep on defending like Sunday park footballers and failing to convert chance after chance.

Agreed the defence is slow and error strewn - it comes to something when I have to say that Peltier defensively has been head and shoulders over the others.

Although Murphy came on for Hoilett and was yet again so lightweight, it was defenders who missed the obvious chances, not the front men. We are so inept at playing through teams rather than over the top that we're relying on mistakes and set pieces to create most chances - the two we did create were put away by Ward and Hoilett.

We are playing prehistoric stuff hoping for a result rather than scheming for one through tactics and skill.

It’s painful watching the only footballers we possess, (1)?Pack looking for a player to pass to to get an offensive move going and ending up having to pass to the central defenders or Ralls who haven’t a creative bone in their bodies; and (2)Tomlin buzzing around waiting for a pass and when he gets it there’s nobody on his wavelength to receive it back.

And so all we get is the central defenders hoofing it up front largely aimlessly.

That’s the Warnock way, rudimentary and dull football.
