Millwall up next....

Guess we file that on the if you can’t win, don’t lose pile. Maybe it’ll end up bring a good point. Onto a tricky game at Coventry.

Im just not sure that we have enough about us to get anywhere near promotion and if we did get promoted....holy **** we would get murdered

Best news is that Boro didn’t win. Think it’s safe to say that Coventry are up but, due to the rest of the championship being much of a muchness, 2nd place is still not out of the question. Just wish we would take the handbrake off and really go at teams. On to Coventry - anything we get from that is a bonus regardless of how much the relative cost of the 2 squads

Thing is, with so.much possession, we pressed, dominated with some strong spells, and yet with 16 shots, not a simple toe in could score. Macketeer I fear will fade into an also ran. Noticeable lack of urgency, leadership from O'Shea who almost cost us with several poor passes. But, with results going our way, we are still well within touching distance. Nice to see Wes back for a cameo.

Half way stage, give us a strong striker please in the New Year.

It's a toss up really isn't it?The Division is so weak it's as good a chance as ever to get promotion. If we stay down it's a slow death of losing talent and leaching money. But if we go up,as you say,we'd really struggle but keep coining it and be able to continue building the Club for the future plus another Season of seeing the Worlds' best talent at PR.
One of the main positives I took from last Season was eventually a lot of the moaners flounced off!

Performance pretty much summed up our season. Decent point, clean sheet, we look fairly solid but given away a few chances which we could manage better either giving the ball away at the back or losing it with loads of men up the pitch on the transition.

I'm not against strengthening the striker position but for me I think the whole forward line just isn't balanced and there a part of me which says whoever we have upfront at the moment it'd be a tough job because we're not looking fluid going forwards. Too many touches and too many players who want to run at the defender and cut inside. For a striker it must be so frustrating, we hold onto the ball for far too long and our wide players constantly check back.

Terrible in attack today, lots of decent moves started, many bad decisions on the final ball made.

I think Burns should've started and played as many minutes as possible before being subbed. McK went with the safe option of McAteer to start when really we needed an early goal and then have something to protect rather than safe first, hope to get a goal later. I kind of wanted Matusiwa to take a yellow card in this one to get his suspension out of the way. I'm not too bothered about the result against Coventry as I can't see anyone catching them so I figured it would be a good game for him to sit out the first of two games missed.

We had plenty of promising moments but decision making for the final pass was awful. Azon doesn't look like being able to handle this league. He falls over too often and doesn't close down with any conviction. When Hirst runs at the goalkeeper to close him down he does it at full pelt, right up to the'keeper, which does force hurried clearances and sometimes we end up with the ball. Azon just does it half-heartedly and stops running well short of the goalie, it's not real pressure that can cause mistakes.

Cajuste was good for about 15 minutes early in the game and then pretty much a passenger for the rest. O'Shea has been decent defensively but has made a meal of some easy passes that have needlessly put us under pressure.

Walton was excellent though, can't see Palmer getting in at the moment.

All in all, very poor. Dominant possession at times and counter attacks that looked good up until the final decision, much to improve on. We're a quality striker away from being a good team.

I feel we've had worse boxing day results over recent years.
Agree it's yet another 2 points lost to the ever present problem of ineffective attacking moves - particularly against resolute defences.

Good to see Burns back, if he's the same player from before a season lost to injuries than he can add some insicivness to the team.

Not sure the solution is more players to teach "the system" to. Recruitment needs to be targeted.
