I know Bob, and isn't that the sad reality of the game we supporters love. I started watching Sunderland in the late 50s, players then went to the match on the same bus as the fans and they all lived locally to their clubs. There's too much money in the game, it's ruining it.
Not sure about that Bob, he was on £14k a week at Boro and that's around the top of Millwall's salary band. At his age, and with his injury record, he's not worth top dollar imo. Millwall are in serious debt, posted record losses last year or the year before iirc and their wage bill is higher tham their income. I only know this because a lad I worked with, in Surrey, was a Millwall supporter who used to mock me when Donald was there .... ... I used to do a bit of research to get my own back
That was the Sunderland lad at the end who took a swing, missed, fell on his face and then was booted unconscious. He ended up in hospital.
Meh. Both sides looked like a bunch of 14/15 year olds. Dont care who 'won', no glory to be claimed from schoolkids knocking the ****e out of each other. Need their arses smacked.
I remember once at Roker when a player went in hard and late on Monty as he gathered a low ball, Charlie Hurley grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and dragged him yards with his feet dangling off the ground, it was hilarious. There seems to a goalie protection club at our place.
He wasn't starting games at Boro and his career is starting to turnout ... ... he's not been a great success at Boro and I doubt they'd give him a new contract tbh. Financially he's definitely better off moving.
It would've run out in a few months and wouldn't have been renewed, he's only started once under Carrick. I don't think Millwall is a good choice for him though. But financily he's better off with his long term Millwall contract even if it's less money.
