We were always going to concede at some stage, Soops. We'll get beaten a few times too, perhaps next week for starters. One or two teams might score four against us. But there is some truth in statistics, but not certainty. There is no doubt that this is a good squad that Harry's assembled for this division, and that Mr Fernandes will put his hand in his pocket come New Year if we need that little extra push. I'm so excited, And I just can't hide it, I'm about to lose control and I think I like it! (Anybody got any tissues?)
Gutted that we didnt win the game - really should have closed it out when 2-1 up at that stage. And having seen their 2nd goal on a clip in another thread its a poor one to concede for sure.
Hard not to be a little concerned that we let the lead slip twice. That was the game out of the three in a row away from home that I thought we had the best chance to take all 3 points. People keep saying that Burnley are going to fall back............I don't see it tbh. Next week will be very, very tough. We may do well to take 3 points from these 3 away games. There is a long, long way to go this season!
Also felt it was probably our best chance of 3 points from the 3 tough away games & losing such a late goal is a real downer. Still if can maintain the draw away win at home ratio then if can get 3+ points out of this run then won't be too bad.
From the "points Comparison" thread it is worth noting that we can draw the next three matches (or just win one of them) to still be on the schedule we got promoted with last time.
Which wouldn't be that bad a return IMO. Win at home, draw away. Drop points now and again at home; pick up wins now and again away. I said I wanted 3 from these 3 games but I'd love to get 4. I'll stick with that.
just seen the goal, oh dear Dunne on the 1st one and the 2nd was a bit unlucky, barton and Dunne should have done better. 2 very well taken goals for us though.
So, having seen the Millwall goals... ...Dunne was at fault for the first; looked like a lumbering cart horse and was turned quite easily. Shame. Was he where Simpson should have been? Not clear to me, but if he's going there he's got to win the ball. ... Double calamity as Hill and Henry go for the same ball, but are both easily beaten in the air by the Millwall chap, the ball then lands at Dunne's feet, it pings off him and Barton(?) who's right there in his way and plays in Easter (who must have thought it was Christmas). Why was Hill out there challenging for that ball anyway?
As mentioned before Ãber, Dunne will give up the odd goal through his ould nature and perhaps even the dreaded own goal, but he'll make up for the odd clangers with solid performances throughout the season. I think he's already built up enough brownie points to make up for any more clangers (God forbid) to come!
On the opening day of the season if you were offered 2nd place after 11 games with 8 wins and 3 draws you'd have snapped their hand off and we've got a game in hand. We've achieved that with several average performances and we're capable of much better. Next week is a real test for us and a point would be an excellent result, we're in a good place and there's a long way to go...
Correction on second goal: Easter played the ball off Barton, so Joey gets the assist. Dunne didn't touch the ball and was just in the way.
