There was not even a free kick, the game restarted with a goal kickUnfortunately they didn't have VAR then.

Was just talking to a Millwall fan and he was still downplaying the injury ffs! The palace player was so lucky it didn’t hit him full on the face , that would of been really seriousPoor but not unexpected, to hear that some Millwall fans were chanting "let him die" at the weekend.
I'll admit I've chanted that myself a few times over the years.
But always when I (and others around me) perceived that an opposition player was laying it on thick rather than being really hurt.
And usually if the player concerned was already particularly unpopular for other reasons.
Was it not obvious that Mateta was really badly hurt?
He's just been kicked in the head, flying karate style.

A ill judged challenge and deserved red card cost us the game but some of the comments following have been comical and overly dramatic, tame ones like give him a ten match ban or ban him from the game completely going onto jail him, string him up or face the firing squad, all forgetting that he got to the ball first. Was just talking to a Millwall fan and he was still downplaying the injury ffs! You only need to look at him to see that, then when he speaks he confirms it!!Agreed - Steve Parish is one of the biggest tossers in football.
I know someone who worked for him for years at TAG….confirmed that he’s a complete weapon of a human being.

Quite right Mr MaloneyYou only need to look at him to see that, then when he speaks he confirms it!!![]()

You see what you want to see, you hate Millwall and are blinded to what was a unfortunate accident.Had Mateta not barged Cooper out of the way he wouldn't had been in Roberts path.Millwall statement on Liam Roberts’ challenge on Jean-Philippe Mateta:
“The club are disgusted by abuse directed towards goalkeeper Liam Roberts following Saturday’s unfortunate collision with Jean-Philippe Mateta.
“The reporting on the matter, as well as disgraceful suggestions made by certain news organisations and high-profile figures within the sport that Liam intended to harm Jean-Philippe, has contributed to the unwarranted character assassination of Liam and fuelled abhorrent online abuse towards him.
“No player at Millwall Football Club steps on to the pitch with the intent to harm another, and the club will continue to support Liam, who reached out to Jean-Philippe personally on Saturday evening with an apology which was accepted immediately.”
Unfortunate Collision? What a laugh.

Instead of Suzana Reid.My opinion having watched it multiple times is that it was an unfortunate accident, albeit clearly reckless. A three game ban would be fitting.
If Steve Parish was an Easter egg, he would have eaten himself years ago.
