There is only one Charlton manager that has a worse win % than what Nathan Jones currently has and that's Russell Slade Appleton 28.6 Robinson 36.49 Fraeye 38.57 Atkins 34.62 Parkinson 38.6 Holden 37.5 Garner 41.03 Bowyer 40.8 Powell 40.99 Jones 25.00 Slade 23.81 I know the bar isn't very high with most of these, so come on Nathan.
Lies, damn lies and statistics. I think if Appleton had stayed the whole season we would be playing League two football next Season. Jones saved us from relegation, there is no doubt about that.
That's not what you need for next season though. Appleton was a ridiculous appointment (as was Holden, Garner and Adkins before him). Jones has had one good managerial stint at Luton - everywhere else he's been a car crash - reminds he of Ian Hollowally.
I am very happy with Nathan Jones. Let us wait to see if he is backed in the transfer market. I feel that if he can't make it with us he won't make it anywhere. He has certainly galvanised the supporters. But he needs to be backed.
But according to the evidence we’ve seen so far, he won’t be. At least not to the extent to get us promoted. Three transfer windows for SE7 partners and we’ve gone from 10th to 16th in L1. Says it all.
More to do with the way the money's been squandered by poor recruitment and managerial payoffs. I blame the SMT not the owners. Andy Scott hasn't got free reign now that NJ has the final say on recruitment, so I'm keeping an open mind.
Oh, I got my acronyms mixed up as Kenneth Williams might have said. Let's just hope there is an announcement soon that Scott is leaving by mutual consent.
