Forget the manager for a moment, this mess we find ourselves in is what happens when an owner continuously and consistently fails to reinvest funds into the playing squad over a prolonged period of time. Marcus Evans is ultimately responsible and needs to be held accountable by supporters, some of whom continue to delude themselves that he puts £6m a year into this club, while our very own accounts prove otherwise. We have lost quality, value, stability, and credibility in the football world. This is the lowest I have felt in all my life as an Ipswich fan and I am resigned to the increasing likelihood that this once great club will be playing third division football next season.
Sometimes you need to go backward to go forward. Perhaps relegation will be what we need for a revolution.
The thought of relegation really really worries me,I feel we would be more likely to do a Coventry,Portsmouth or Charlton than a Norwich or Southampton.
Portsmouth are already coming back up and they had extreme circumstances. Would it really be any worse than the last ten years?
We’ve had this debate before, but relegation would be a negative thing for this club. Our accounts show that we make a lot of revenue through stadium attendance and league money, both would drop significantly if we were relegated. The attendance alone would most likely drop another few thousand. We’d lose players like Bart, Knudsen, Dozzell, and Edwards, the few quality players we have. One positive from relegation could be the departure of this useless owner though.
I've wanted Evans gone for a long time and those feelings won't be changing. As Nuggets says, we have continually sold our best players and replaced them with lesser. You can't keep doing that and expect to remain in the league.
