Spent our limit I reckon - went over it a little even, and convinced the board to break wage cap. If Bruce gets this one he's spiking Charnleys tea.
If you look at Mike Ashley - this will depress you. His business strategy has changed not just at Newcastle, but also his main too. The changes at Frasers is nuts since they rebranded and began purchasing everything available on the market. ffs, they even bought Everlast, who are huge. I think Ashley has realised the potential that comes in spending more money, that's also going on at Newcastle too. As Bruce said, flexing a bit, showing we can compete. I respect your optimism but, until I see something completely nuts, this all seems like standard **** to me.
Be a fantastic signing but I can't see this at all after Wilson. Unless we are going balls deep all of a sudden.
Milik to nufc is potentially back in with a chance after move to roma has collapsed Miracles required
Far too good for our lot, so fingers crossed. If we sign two good players and continue to under perform, bye Bruce.
He will probably play Milik right back. For all his decisions last year generally made sense, the game against Brighton was a massive concern. I still haven't worked out what the **** he was thinking.
I'm with you here. I'm not sure I've ever had a game where I still, days later, have no clue what was actually supposed to happen, I mean, if you go 2-0 down so early, I'd expect then a period of dumb-foundedness before the realisation there's 80 minutes left and you need to absolutely get in the face of the opposition, hell for leather type performance. We did nothing, at all. The "tactic" was exposed within the first minute. Shelvey was constantly beside the CB's with nobody to fire hollywood passes to. We had Hendrick unable to get down the right. No understanding wide at all, nothing in the middle and no clear link with Carroll/Wilson, the former shouldn't be near the first XI. It really was an absolute mess - I don't buy the picking of players was to blame, but listening to Bruce that's what he believes. I don't think he has a clue what formation he could or should use.
The more I watch Shelvey, the more I realise he can only be comfortable in a Rafa type team. Anything that involves running around and getting further up the pitch, he isn't capable. I think if I'd had a full season training him, and I was intent on moving us in a different direction this season, I'd have sold him in the summer and got someone suited to my style. But hey, that's just me...
This is what i find odd - the odd time when Shelvey has played further forward, the better he seems to be. Sticking him in this stupid "quarterback" role kills the team, always has. But further forward he top-scored across the whole sorry mess.
I just think its horse for courses. He is tailor made for Rafa's sit and counter style. It places high importance on the guy receiving the ball deep being able to ping long range passes. That is his game. Rafa was happy for us to sit static, soak up pressure and hit on the counter. It worked in terms of achieving the goal of survival, and Shelvey was well suited. He was ok under Bruce again playing in similar fashion last year. But from the point of Bruce trying to change it he has looked massively out of place. Of course he isn't being helped by set ups like Saturday, but I think its folly to expect better regardless of Bruce's set up. His best bet is to head to China!
He's a good player. 5 mil less than Joelinton ffs Let that sink in, joelinton cost 5 mil more than Milik... And we will say no
Far too good for us isnt he Bruce would mismanage him anyway based on the Brighton game. Never has my confidence in a manager ever changed so quickly
I don't think he'd even sign for us if we offered enough. If Spurs and Mourinho are interested and making moves, then just move on cause he ain't coming here over them. Be a great signing for Spurs, for all he won't be happy being Harry Kane's back up.
Lol I was reading the BBC livefeed, they were all whining at 1-0 Dinosaur, past it, teams a shambles Then boom 5-2 "He's still got it, proving them all wrong babyyy"
On Milik, sounds like the agent is just dropping a few names to up the price - Levy's less of a spender than Mike.
