We just drew away at AC Milan mate and tbh Milan didn't create much themselves. Let's try to appreciate where we've come from and where we are playing now. A good point full stop.
Norwegian commentator made a good point. First half, Milan sort of sat deep. Which I think took Newcastle by surprise, Milan probably expected us to be nervous and push the attack since we had possession. Obviously the goal was to score from the counter. When we didn't take the bait, Milan applied pressure in the second half, performances from Trips, Schar and Botman kept us solid enough to survive.
Love Botman's interview, not happy! https://www.nufc.co.uk/nufc-tv/latest-videos/botman-a-good-point-but-we-can-do-much-better/
Good. I’m pleased he’s being honest about our performance. Given a lot of our fans seem to be blind to the fact that we could have done better.
I don’t think people are blind to the fact we can do better or that we haven’t really clicked yet this season but are keeping perspective in that the result was a good one for us in a very big game and having come so far so quickly it’s clear that we have quite a long way to improve yet but some seem to have developed massive over expectations. The constant criticism of Howe et al and people constantly thinking they know better than them is embarrassing
Agree 100%. Too many clearly have memories that are far too short. They simply don't understand the concept of just how far we've come and just how difficult it's been to catch up, never mind overtake a number of teams due to how poorly structured the squad was. Those wishful comments from 2 years ago about how they demanded they had a team that tried not demanded they had a team that won. Yet the first bumps in the road they're demanding that we should be winning games against Brentford with more style. Comments like we've spent £400m to be mid table are just laughable. When the price of a bang average player is £30m to £40m these days. Then there is the ones with flip sides to those comments such as "why have we not spent as much as team A, team B, team C" Yes other teams have spent money, difference is those teams have made large amounts on player sales, We haven't. Yet some of the dumb ****ers pass judgement on our lack of spending. Clearly not understanding the concepts of FFP. If it's not that, it's the ones demanding we play Anderson or Hall or Miley. I'd love to know how many of them have actually seen even 1 Lewis Hall game. Then there's the ones questioning how we haven't signed the M'Bappe's, Kane's, Bellingham's etc. It's never ending. Moan, moan, moan, moan, moan. The reality is we're still very much in phase 2 of the project. The first being to stay in the division or gain promotion, had we gone down. We should still be at the stage of just gaining stability, not moaning because our team have just drawn in the San Siro. Yet here we are.
Too right. We got an away point and clean sheet against a top European team. They're no mugs, but some fans are whinging that we should look better against opposition like this. Craig Hope was really critical of Tonali - the bloke coming back from injury - for not running hard enough! I couldn't see the game but I see that Isak didn't have a good game - there's options to rotate now. We need to keep the faith lads.
