Not too sad to see him go, he is far from my favourite player and I think its a good move, with he and Oscar moving on, looks like we will be buying a new CM in the January window.
 
Great servant to the club and a fine player, throughout all our greatest achievements in the modern era, You dont get his medal haul and being selected by so many top managers, if you are ****!

Every club needs players like Mikel. Good pros who don't moan when not picked but do a job when called on and provide a positive atmosphere at the club. Probably akin to the likes of Phil Neville at United.

By no means the best player to pull on the shirt but got enough appearances and medals to suggest he was better than many gave him credit for.

Probably the right time for player and club to move on. He is not going to get much game time now and we need to bring on some of the younger lads like Chalobah.

This may be the beginning of a few going in the next few months. Wouldn't;t be surprised to see Terry and Ivan heading off in the summer, maybe even Fabregas.

Those are the three I would pick to replace in the summer too.
Looks like we will probably be getting a new CM this month, not sure who though, but cannot see 2 CM's being sold without at least 1 replacement.
 
Not sad mikel went if i'm honest. I appreciate that he's been here for some time and seemed to have a good attitude but i just don't think he was very good.

Classy farewell letter from a gentleman of the game. Hope he puts his money in his piggybank and has a happy retirement when that time comes. I think Chelsea history will show he was there for many of our triumphs, and deserves to be included in the list of great Chelsea achievers.
 
One of the best players we ever had.

His medal haul was unbelievable, and he has a fantastic attitude.

He's done it all and i can only salute him.

His faults were known to all and bemoaned often, he often controlled a match and was not lauded. Everyone knows he was played from his natural position but he kow towed and done all that was asked for him when he pulled on the shirt be it Blue or Green. Captain of his country. A leader off the pitch, genial to a fault, professional with enough yellows cards given to show how blue his blood is. How many times have I seen him commit a professional foul when he saw the danger (often caused by himself)? Too many to count.
