Fair enough. If he's been found guilty then he's guilty.

Tbh, and putting the racism issue to one side, these lads are supposed to be professionals and they ought to act like professionals. Mikel's actions are not acceptable and despite my views on Clattenburg's *iss poor handling of "The Game" he is just a guy trying to do a tough job that I am fairly certain none of us on here could manage.

I would like to see hefty and consistent slaps handed out for all non-professional conduct ranging from in-play cheating to dissent including the pathetic slagging off tweeting culture that has erupted in the game.

I do not give a flying fig if these guys are under pressure, they are paid an awful lot of money, they represent the club and as far as I am concerned they should set immaculate standards of behaviour.

NB: did anyone else notice the ref' spitting last night? Never seen that before. Can't stand it. Standards are falling but there again I'm getting old and what do I know!

<ok>.

Have to agree with this, ref's shouldn't be hounded, (or ganged up on, or sworn at during games) there is a proper formality that should take place.
Having said that I would love to have done the same after only being able to scream at the tv <steam> for most of the game. I saw one of the other threads the other day saying how piss poor he was as well after he ref'd their game, and they said they actually saw our point, about him, but can't remember who it was now.

The guy thought he'd been called a monkey, don't blame him for going mental.

No excuse - He never heard what was said to him - it was Ramires who told him - wrongly- well after the event.
Mikels behaviour was appalling and he should be damn lucky to only get a 3 game ban. PL footballers are the ultimate role model for all footballers, from the youngest Junior upwards - and the effects of bad behaviour has its consequences. Just consider the events in the Netherlands this week.

Dead right. With both the Anton Ferdinand and Clattenberg dramas the FA , as usual, lost a great opportunity to put a stamp on player conduct. The rantings and cursing at referees could be wiped out in a week of red card blitzes. Can you imagine a Rugby or League ref taking that kind of garbage !!!!!!!! Open warning ,then whammo, zero tolerance.
And insults to opposition players, instant yellow. One week of dozens of red and yellows, all over.
If players from Rugby and League can behave when they are literally battering each other, then the wimps rolling around holding their shins can as well.

What ever the merits of the complaint, or the FAs' skewed form of justice, one thing is clear, true and inarguable.
Clattenberg is a plonker of a ref.

I said exactly the same as this to my son at the weekend, why is it tolerated at all, and how did we get to this point anyway, if its not stopped then how much worse is it going to get.

Ridiculous comparison. One is angry over an alleged racial slur and the others over (what is a assumed to be) a refereeing decision . And did you suggest that Mikel could potentially beat Mark Clattenburg to death? You have to take things into context. Mikel along with the other players are already incensed at the end of the match after having been blatantly robbed by the ref against our then title rivals and Manchester United of all teams. If he is then told by a team mate that he was apparently racially abused by that same referee during the match he would unlikely be able to use rationality on what to do next. It doesn't excuse what he done, but he certainly isn't "lucky" to escape with just a three match ban.

Couldn't deny so attempted humour?

Say goodnight to the troops Gracie:emoticon-0109-kiss:

Yes I agree, Clattenburg is on United's payroll. We're very lucky to have him (and Webb). It must drive you nuts!<ok>

Seeing as racism accusations didn't work perhaps you could accuse the next ref who "wrongs" Chelsea of being a friend of Savile?

Chav justice!
