With all respect Bri, you know I have a lot of time for you, but what's the difference between him stepping up to Newcastle and Poyet stepping up from Brighton to you lot?

There's probably hundreds of successful coach to manager stories out there, but obviously this one is interesting for me.

I would but many wouldn't, but I wouldn't credit him to Man U, spent most of his coaching career with Sunderland and a tiny fraction of his time with Man U.

No real relevance just a trend I've picked up on.

Fair do's mate, are there any clubs who've produced a significant amount of reputable managers from their coaching staff in particular?

It's probably all academic anyhow big man, Mike Ashley isn't going to appoint a reputable manager, I'm sure the Newcastle fans are all expecting some dinosaur or some internal appointment from the accounts dept any day now.

About 3 years management experience mate, I can see we disagree on this fella but there's a big difference between three years as top dog at a club, changing the foundation of a club, building and evolving a team and month of caretaker manager keeping a club ticking over for the next man. Not only that i'll fully acknowledge Poyet was a massive risk.

That's a very interesting question mate. Not sure how I'd dig that information out.

Oh the Mags will hire Carver the Charva till the end of the season. Phelan will probably step up to caretaker manager after joining Hull and Bruce getting sacked.

Not that often you could get such a 'big job' with such little experience. Horribel job to get if things go wrong, but great if things go your way.

A risk that ultimately paid dividends. Nobody's saying Newcastle are gonna win the league with Phelan, but they're looking for a head coach, that's what he is, he's a head coach. The difference between a head coach and a manager is the manager controls the clubs affairs on and off the pitch, who they buy and so on, whereas the head coach controls the team of players he has at his disposal.

I'd argue, that there's quite a few 'head coaches' pretending to be managers in this league.

Bruce will be sacked, I agree, he's done something wrong, it's fallen apart by the looks of it. You lot are having your 'I told you so' moment now ;)

Don't need to tell me about the DoF set up fella. Sick of explaining it on here to folk only to realise it's pointless, they'll point the finger at who they see fit regardless of the facts <laugh> He probably will become a good head coach or manager. But Newcastle for his first job? Na mate. I bet even Phelan would think **** that **** and time his introduction to the job with much more care rather than join the biggest club that will have my like so many managers/coaches do. It will take something/someone very special to change Mag fortunes which is probably why there isn't a line of reputable managers or head coaches queuing up for the job.

Well yeah, there's the chance he'd turn them down but you see daft decisions from coaches/managers all too often, OGS for example, he could have been the next big thing, if he'd timed it right but he went to work for Vincent Tan of all people.

It's taking them a long time no matter what we think, I wonder if Joe Kinnear's phone has run out of battery and he hasn't noticed.

I'm being graceful fella, but still getting abuse on that board for sharing my experience. I said Bruce has had problems with large injury lists where ever he's gone, it seems injury management isn't his strengths. I was called a cock and boring <laugh> You can tell that club have played nothing football most of their existence as a lot of their fans no nothing about football. All they know is this fierce, blind defencive attitude where without even realising are depicting to outsiders that all things Hull are ****ing perfect. I shouldn't want Hull to suffer, they're minnows above their station and I should be willing them on. But i want them to suffer and disappear without a trace. They think it's because of Bruce when actually it's because of them. Some good lads on that board but it's 75% defensive dickheads.

They've had a small scale fall from grace since around this time last year, the FA cup final being an anomaly in all of that.

Curtis Davies' biggest fans must be crippled with embarrassment this season, I wouldn't blame Bruce for that, it's just that lad was always ****, he just had his good year. I remember enough of those types of names turning up in the 'Fergie's interested in signing ......' gossip column over the years.

Pre-season I actually thought they had the makings of a good team, I remember Smug getting **** of others for saying he'd not have any of their signings, people calling him bitter and so on. Turns out he was right but let's keep that quiet!

I am fairly sure I've addressed this situation before. If I make your piles itch, just say so, not that it'll do you any good, but at least you look less of a pigeon by doing so.

Apologies, I over reacted. Some things you write, the way you word it, seem provocative.
