Since everyone is chucking two pence away, who am I refuse?

Mike Ashley is stifling the club at present, except regarding merchandising and profit creation. None of that will be passed into making a viable premier league team coached by someone sensible. Whatever anyone thinks, all his decisions are here and now profit generators. Even the academy upgrade would be, because he can plug the club for a few extra bucks when someone does come along, or worse case scenario he's stuck with us but doesn't have to spend any money on transfers, because even though their english and ****, we'll play whatever comes through the much vaunted new academy... Worked well for Boro, clearly...

What concerns me most about Ashley is the seriously dreadful lack of communication, as WP has already alluded. He says one thing as does another... We're about as far from the "Arsenal-lite plan" as you could get... More like Netto-lite. We have a manager who plays one way, a scouting network that signs a certain kind of player that doesn't compliment that one way of playing, a director of football who apparently will dilute the process of choosing players even further from the manager's grasp, we have a youth squad that have no link to the first team, unless they have a bit of pace and Ameobi as a second name... There's no cohesion at any level, further compounded by the bi-annual ****-up by the owner, which brings every gutter-munching slimeball reporter to our doorsteps to get a one line wonder quote anyone who looks like they might have the strength to carry a soiled mattress into Newcastle city centre and back.

He's far from a wonderful (or even good) owner. Self-interested, lying, bullish, I'd call him. But give him his dues, he's playing the tune for some of the faithful... There's only so many times he can put up some gates nobody gave two s***s about in the first place, probably followed by the unveiling of the latest sportsdirect monstrosity adorning them, before people cotton on.

I am happy to an extent with what's happened for some of his reign, and very happy with some of the players I've had the pleasure of watching, but seriously and truly he shouldn't get the credit for too much of that. He inherits a scout who mines for gold and creams the riches... And talk about jobs for the boys, it's utterly pathetic to put so many pathetic candidates in key positions... Or maybe we are a failing high-street department store and I'm just oblivious.

This is it for me. Nobody can argue that this situation is worse than spending millions and millions on flops like Luque/Marcelino and giving players like Xisco/Alan Smith £60k p/wk. Lot of people forget KK scrapped our youth system and we still haven't recovered but we ARE starting to move in the right direction. Financial sustainability is ever more pertinent now given how the likes of Leeds/Portsmouth/Rangers have gone in the last few years. Quick fixes AREN'T the answer. What you described in the quote above would be incredible and it's realistic. Well said.

KK did a lot of damage to our youth prospects I totally agree.

Wasn't the argument for the scrapping of the youth side was that they would have to play at SJP and that would have been detrimental (or something mental) to the pitch?

Was it not the reserves he scrapped which was seen as the link between the youth team and first team? Was there not some daft rule about them having to play at SJP. KK argued the pitch was already not conducive to the style of football he wished to play, so putting more strain on it was not an option? To be fair anyone who attended games at the time would testify to our shambles of a pitch. We had a major problem at the time, you'd have 100 people on the pitch at half time replacing divots!

I might be wrong but I've often thought this is often misreported
