I was using David Silva as an example of money well spent. I dont want NUFC to spend £20million on a player with no sell on value. I like our structure. It's too rigid however, as the odd cheap experience players are sometimes worth their weight in gold. We could do with a couple of solid defenders.

All I am saying is people seem to be far too quick of praising Ash's financial decisions, when at the end of the day, he can afford to do whatever he wanted.

He owns the loan. Its his. That debt can sit their for 20 years and not bother anyone. He could sell the club and get it back. He could use transfer fees to claim it back gradually. He could use sponsorship money to claim it back gradually.

He can do what he likes. Its his choice. We shouldn't praise a billionaire for having the means to take on a debt that an asset he bought and owns has. No-one asked him to buy the club. He did it from his own free will.

Am I glad it's in his hands and not the banks? Too right I am. Does he deserve to have his hand shaken for taking it on? No. He's a billionaire. He can afford to do it. I would do the same. In fact, I would right it off if I could and increase the clubs value to counter it. But that's just me. I'd be a crazy billionaire!!! :1980_boogie_down:

So your entire argument is that it doesn't matter how good anything he does is, because he's a billionaire it just doesn't matter? What a pointless thread.

So many up and coming billionaires on here today. I know it's football related, but come on guys, let's talk about on the field matters.

We've got a tough game against Arsenal coming up on Monday, who's going and what do you think we'll get out of it? Should be an interesting game and a win would take us to just 2 points behind Arsenal.

There'a also a chance to see the reserves play tonight against the mackem reserves.

    Team from.
Baird, Mitchell, Perch, Moyo, Riley, Streete, Storey, Obertan, Abeid, McDermott, Richardson, Donaldson, Gosling, McGorrigan, Airey, D.Taylor.

Kick-off is at 7pm and NUFC season ticket holders & members are admitted free (or else £3 for adults and £1.50 concessions at the gate).

East Stand Turnstiles will be open.

To me it looks like you do want Ashley to spend millions and millions of his cash.

The face is, he CAN'T afford to do whatever he wants, because:

1). He does not have unlimited cash, and the value of his assets means very little when it comes to available cash
2). He loaned a ****ing ****load to the club, in cash, to balance the books, and he'll want it back
3). Due to FFP rules, he has no choice but to balance the books and get NUFC making a profit
4). Remember when he spent £68million on players and ended up being relegated? It's rightly made him very sceptical of splashing the cash now in a John Hall fashion

    I am a billionaire.

It's tough you know? We choose and expensive lifestyle because we can afford to do so. We have that to pay for, we have families and I want to make sure the next 10 generations at least are as lucky as I am.

We all have business assets, and that's all they are. I can't go to a cash machine and see £3.5bn sitting there. If I want that in my bank, I have to sell everything I own. We make sensible (and often cheap) decisions and make millions off them.

No. It's just a case of praise and judging how well he has done. It annoys me how people say, surely Mike Ashley deserves more praise. He doesn't.

TBF you could say Mike Ashley is crazy for buying a football club, making it worse and losing money. Idiot.

My wealth would be put to great use! :emoticon-0103-cool:

But he's made it better (12th when he took over), and is slowly making money.

I was obviously talking about the first 4 years of his tenure.

This season is showing he may finally be onto something.....in 4 years he took us down to the depths of championship and then back up to 12th. Nice.

It was nice to be able to afford away tickets for once, made it to more than I ever had before or since. Theres just something different about trips to Doncaster and Scunthorpe.

Mike Ashley is a very very good owner.

He's a genius to get £35m for Carroll; he deserves a statue just for that.
