Out of interest, and I know it's sad,
I counted 73, yes 73 signs with the $ports Direct name on, inside the ground last night
I couldn't see the signs at the front of the Leazes End so i just presumed the same amount of signs as there was at the Gallowgate End
(I did not bother counting the ones around the ground outside)
73 possible advertisers , not to be sniffed at

Wonga, on the other hand had less than 20 ..... and how much do they pay ??? says it all really

Yet, there are people who still get taken in by these words made to sooth the anger of the fans, even here.

We've heard from Pardew, we are not in the position to compete with the financial strength of clubs like Southampton...
who were ****ing just promoted while we've the prize money from previous years etc, and we brought in 0 players.

Agents fees, and other issues? Are you kidding me? Agents fees ARE PART AND PARCEL OF FOOTBALL SIGNINGS. WHICH CLUB MAKES A SIGNING WITHOUT PAYING IT. Why don't I hear Real Madrid claiming Agents fees stopping their 85million bid on Bale, Bale's agent can definitely retire now, I'm sure his fees were humongous.

They brought forward their signings to January? Then why did we even chase PEA, Gomis et al? Darren Bent? Clearly they were just trying to find excuses for their epic failures this transfer window.

Why would you guys be so happy about our club making profits? Which club in the world makes a profit seriously? Roman Abramovich wrote off all debts to him. WROTE OFF. When he first bought the club he had already stated he was looking to win championships, and that money was never an issue. Something is wrong if our club is making profits and NOT looking to progress in league or silverware. What are we supposed to be supporting? A football club looking to win something or are we supporting our homegrown business that we have a stake in and hoping for it to make profits?
The profits that are unspent only serve to pay off the interest-free loans to Mike Ashley who is just looking to get his money back, and then sell the club for a profit, even a blind man can see that.

As for the commercial income, we really can't compete with Man Utd? Even my granny can tell you that. They are just trying to downplay the fact that there is revenue from commercial income , and trying to keep things quiet on that front. Are you telling me we can't compete with the likes of Southampton West Brom Sunderland et al in terms of commercial revenue? We are amongst the top 8 supported clubs in the world in the EPL, all this bull**** about us not being able to compete with Man Utd, is just them trying to deflect attention away from it.

I am already very sick of the club not finding ways to improve under Mike Ashley, and JFK. To add to that having to listen to their constant nonsense trying to string us fans around is even worse, they really do take us as ******s.

In what was described as a positive step forward by NUST a statement reflected on the meeting by reporting that Ashley has: “No intention, desire or ambition to sell the club.”

    This sums it up

I am gutted that Ashley has no intention to sell.
Ok we can give him a pat on the back because we are financially stable but to have no ambition is baffling.

The worst advertisements are those in the players tunnel by the "Newcastle United" sign. The whole place is littered with Sports Direct adverts and rather than looking like the famous "This is Anfield" which was supposed to encourage the home team and intimidate the vistors, the tunnel looks cheap and tacky.

    > Lady Elenor. Yes, Mike Ashley does have ambitions for the club but they simply don't match yours. His ambition, which he is realising, is to use it to generate money for MASH Ltd. That's the top and bottom of it. It is a business investment for him. It has nothiong to do with pride, emotion, footballing ambition, dreams, fond memories or anything intangiable for him. He has bought Newcastle United quite simply as a business plan. It is working as far as he is concerned; the stadium is full, he's selling merchandise, he's getting the TV money, he's making a nice cut on the transfer market. As far as he is concerned it's all going nicely to plan.

But what about the fans' ambitions and dreams, you may ask? Well, alas, there's no cell on the spreadsheet for that.

If anyone thinks he's going to spend and try to push for the top then they are mistaken. In his world getting by with spending as little as possible to maximise profits is his watchword. Don't expect anything at all from Ashley. He will do enough, just enough, to keep Newcastle in the top flight. Nothing more.

The staff in the Sports Direct shops are friendly enough but the shops themselves are just packed full of junk. You can hardly get moved in them.

For months I have felt that Ashley had no ambition for the club and as you say it's all about business for him.
At the game on Saturday the young lad behind me was going on about a win and we are in top 4 and he was full of enthusiasm and I can remember being like that.
Now I see us as an advertising board for Ashley, I see ambition being maybe top 10 but as long as we stay up Ashley's a happy bunny.
A lot of people hate the slogan "support the team and not the regime" but it's spot on for me and I won't be happy until Ashley sells.
