Your fairy godmother (?) can now provide you with video highlights of last night. http://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/10549586/norwich-6-1-coventry?
Can you whisper that, please If our board hear that they'll put this search for a striker on the back burner...assuming it's ever come off there in the first place!
We arent signing a Striker Cromer!!! Strikers cost decent money!! Wake up and smell the coffee! Plus we don't need one now! We have Godfrey!!
Yes, really gutted I didn't go, but had had a busy day with my grandchildren. According to the BBC stats, we'd 18 shots on goal and 11 on target, with at least 1 coming back off the post. I see Martin nearly contrived to give Coventry a goal. Fantastic attacking play and awareness of where teammates were, something that seems to be missing with the first team, so I say drop Naismith for Saturday and let Sergi/Jacob start in his place - it would at least give the Brum defence something to think about!!!!!
If it was good enough for the (then) European and World champions EspaƱa, it's sure as hell good enough for li'l ol' Nodge
I see several comments on the EDP website also suggesting starting Canos ahead of Naismith. Go on AN be BRAVE for once and I'm sure the majority of fans will appreciate that decision!!!!!
I don't get this, don't they play in different positions / roles ? Surely Maddison would be the natural replacement for Naismith. Don't get me wrong I would like to see Canos start our next game, he deserves a chance (more than the Murphy's) and I'd be happy for Naismith to be dropped to the bench (he doesn't deserve to start) I just don't see them as a like for like swap. I'm fed up with us putting square pegs in round holes, an error we made far too much last season and I'm not convinced AN has learnt this lesson. There were some really positives last night, all our youngsters played well and we seem to have played with the right attitude, played our game and let the opposition worry about how to handle us, something we didn't do on Sunday, nor for most of last season. Last nights team selection gave me some concerns particularly the decision to play Martin at CB (yes my favorite subject). He seemed to do okay albeit against a poor quality attack and scored, although he did seem to do his best to score a goal for Coventry as well, sort of reminded me of last season. I get the feeling playing Martin at CB is another lesson AN hasn't learnt and I'm really concerned that AN see's Martin (when fully fit) and Klose as our fist choice CB pairing, something I would avoid at all costs, particularly with Martin as captain (another nettle not grasped), when clearly Klose should be leading the defence.
WOW carrow, that HAS to be one of the best posts I've read on here. I wasn't suggesting that Canos should replace Naismith as a straight swap, bur instead f him and so give us some width (which we also lacked on Sunday!!!). I also agree that Martin is one of the biggest liabilities in defence and somehow AN can't/won't see this, so we just have to hope that Kloseand Bennett remain injury/suspension free. I know I wasn't alone in getting the feeling that AN set the team up not to lose rather than to win on Sunday, which again I think was a mistake and as you say, we should play our own game and let our opponents worry about how to deal with it. I'm sure AN would win a lot more support by giving some of the youngsters who played last night an opportunity to prove themselves rather than selecting a team 'not to lose!!' It would also make for a lot more exciting matches and get CR rocking for home games (maybe even a fortress!!!).
Wow... surely you know that Wes has been playing out of position to accomodate Naismith???? Canos swapping with Naismith is exactly what needs to happen. Canos on the right, Ja.Murphy on left and Wes in the middle. It's not rocket science
I don't think we should get carried away about last night against League One opposition at home compared to Ipswich away. I thought the youfs did great and am very pleased with that. Canos and Jacob did come on as subs vs Ipswich and I think that could be the case vs Brum, but AN must decide when they should start, having already made it clear that they will play a big part this season. What's also great is that we'll have both the EFL Cup and the EFL Trophy to insure that they get regular competitive football through the season.
Fair comment RER, but I still think AN should have gone for a more attacking lineup against 1p5wich and would still start Canos ahead of Naismith t Brum if only to give him a reminder that he isn't going to be automatically on the team sheet. Yes, our youffs will get plenty of opportunity too show what they can do and let's hope we stay in the EFL cup for a few more rounds.
Well that's exactly my point about square pegs in round holes. Another mistake we seem to continuing with from last season, picking the 11 in favour individuals and trying to fit them into the formation we want to play, rather than picking the best team ,for the formation we want to play, playing Brady at LB is another example, as is playing Howson in a defensive midfield role (albeit less so).
I think Canos has made a case to start against Birmingham (more so than either of the Murphy's did before they got their chance). He's played well when he's come on as a sub and by all accounts did very well last night night. I'm not sure what more he can do and to not give him a chance that he clearly deserves could dishearten him. How many starts have Whittaker, Martin, Bassong, Naismith and Ruddy had that they didn't deserve
