With Gerrard out with a hamstring injury and no return date known yet (he went straight off, no physio looked him over, he knew he'd pulled it) do we go with the obvious Lucas, Allen and Hendo midfield? That midfield is so uncreative it's not funny. Allen and Lucas will step on each others toes, Hendo won't offer much in the final third and Allen and Lucas won't support the attack a great deal. Do we be brave and play either Alberto or Coutinho in the centre and use Aspas or (more likely) Moses out wide? Same team next week with Lucas in for Gerrard will see us get thumped imo.
All of them. Henderson-Allen-Lucas-Coutinho-Alberto I imagined a long line but boy our midfield is tiny.
Wouldn't be surprised to see 3-5-2 again, to limit our losses with our sh!t midfield. ----------------------Migs -------Toure--------Skrtel---------Sakho Johnson---Hendo--Lucas--Allen----Flannagan ---------------------Coutinho ---------------------Suarez Can't see us getting anything in the game tbh.
simply put we MUST go 4-5-1 v spurs and we must play with width so that we can help flanagan with one guy. I would actually play; mingolet johnson agger Sahko flanagan Sterling lucas Henderson Moses (god F sake) Coutinho Suarez Why? 1. if we resort to donkeying it towards suarez as out midfield can't hodl its own we'll see it come right back. 2. i'd HOPE these two wingers can get it in thier heads to help the midfield and also full backs thus allowing us to hold our own. 3. when lcas was out henderson filled in back there ok.. i think he can do it. 4. drop the donkey skertl please! 5. finally and most of all at least get a point.. spurs are not socring, lets get a 0-0 if nothing else... the o is the problem for us.
I don't think Sterling and Moses are clinical enough going forward, can keep the ball, or contribute to the defence, so it seems suicidal to play them both.
Not really many options now, Allen, Henderson and Lucas in midfield. I don't expect much ambition from them against spurs, main thing is how they protect the back 4. Front 3 of Suarez, Sterling and Coutinho should have the pace and creativity on the counter attack to hurt spurs as long as they don't fall too deep. Not sure Rodgers is the best at setting up a counter attacking team though
what option do we have though... ibe and alberto? I'm not happy but i think its about all there is. I think ok the 4-3-3 mentioned with henderson allen and lucas might happen but hey.... i'd stick henderson wide right and sterling wide left. we really left flanagan exposed at home v west ham. we must cover that.
Am I the only one who wishes we would've loaned Sterling instead of Borini? Borini is great at tracking back and showing for the ball. Would love to have him with Coutinho and Borini behind Suarez, Allen and Lucas covering behind them... That sentence... Right ^there. I never thought I would ever have to type that 1 year ago.
I think this is a little unfair. He may lack a little maturity and technical ability, but his willingness is plain to see, and we can't fault his effort.
Lucas, Henderson, and Allen for me. Henderson and Lucas to really step up and take control. Allen and Hendo behind Coutinho, with Suarez and Sterling ahead. Back four of Sakho, Toure, (need his leadership) Johnson (tell him to track back or else) and Flanno. Tell Lucas to help Flanno out, and Johnson/Toure compensate on the other side. Not ideal but what can you do?
