Match Preview;
Middlesbrough go into this game after a heart-wrenching loss this evening (Thursday evening) as they have just conceded in the 91st minute to lose 2-1 to Hull, a win which takes Hull above them and leave Boro just a point from the drop zone. We have now lost three in a row since the return and need to pick up some points to ensure a nerveless end to the season.

So far it has been an extremely underwhelming return to football for us. Maybe it is the loss of fitness due to the break, maybe it is the lack of crowd or maybe the players are all too aware they'll be playing a lot of games in a short space of time, but the games I have watched since the return have lacked the intensity and pace that I know we can have. Maybe we won't get that back until the fans are there to give some atmosphere...but we need to work out a way to pick up some points without the twelfth man.

Edit: thanks Didley Squat for pointing out that Warnock is now their manager...adds an extra little twist to it...would love to see them lose to us, but still stay up, and for Warnock to put together a team that pushes all the way next year, finishing on 100 points and narrowly missing out on the title, by 1 point, to us.

To get discussion going, we've had quite a few players in common with Boro, who is your best and worst from that list?

Is anyone brave enough to voice (or tap to be more precise) an opinion on the formation and team selection?

I would not be surprised to see something similar to the Charlton match as it clearly worked.

However, I expect to see a place in the starting line up for Chair.

I assume you mean Fulham as Charlton definitely didn’t work.

Same as Fulham. Or perhaps away up there against as big as Colin can find, a more defensive 4 5 1:
Lumley
Rangel Masterson Barbet Wallace
BOS Amos Eze Cameron Manning
Hugill.

Dave, just a quick note, I really have appreciated your match day threads over the past year. Even though we inevitably lose you provide a great write up. Thankyou!

Thanks, kind of you to say, but I'm confused...we lose games? I think I must blank those matches out to keep hold of my illogical optimism.

Interesting idea.

You may be correct with regard to the big players

It will be very intriguing to see who will be in goal.

I see we are close to a very impressive starting eleven of girl supporters.

We seems less enthusiastic in the football matters

I guess everyone is in a pub, restaurant, hairdresser or cinema. :)

Have a great R’s stress-free Saturday.
