I don't know the details fella. I don't know how much it will cost to sack him, how close we are to braking ffp and if that would take us over it, how much it will screw with the financial forecasts in paying of bank debt which is being called in soon. It's not as easy as been given the choice as the choice may not be viable in reality. Hypothetical comments are pointless. I'd rather he wasn't here yes, but that's no big revelation, but would I risk our future by sacking him? Not on your life. Without knowing the full details, anybody demanding the call are just plain refusing to explore the consequences.
I get what your saying Bri, the reporter on the BBC website said we were working hard etc etc and probably shaded the game as if that's any consolation however this had been the case nearly all season and the manager hasn't been able to improve things. Surely the manager has to take some responsibility for some of the shortcomings of his players, he cannot hide behind the 'they're just not good enough' banner he's had time to make a difference and sadly he's probably made things worse. I've no idea what the answer is but if you took a straw pole of fans I think the majority would say get rid, which just adds fuel to the problem we've had for five years or more.
Haha cheers mate. She's making me work for it. That was our 2nd date and I've not even had a kiss yet. It's been over a decade since I can remember feeling like this so I don't mind hanging about a bit longer.
Responsibility has to be taken by everybody fella. But Moyes will come and go, managers will come and go, they have been doing and the situation has been getting worse year on year. Lets be Monty deluded. Sack Moyes and bring Manchini. What the hell has Manchini got to work with to fair any better? Nothing, he'd have the same handicaps restricting him. It's pointless blaming managers when they never had a chance anyway. I foresaw it when the summer window closed. I've foreseen our grief for years, if it wasn't Moyes it was going to be someone else. This club can't be fixed in the dug out. Simple as that. Our whole time in the Premiership and the way we've ran the club in that period proves it beyond doubt imo. And the arguments are compelling that it's in fact been one of our biggest down falls. An obsession with trying to fix the club from the dugout. It's tunnel vision imo.
http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk/financial-fair-play-explained.php I read that a few days ago mate, it seems what QPR did (avoiding fines by getting promoted) is no longer possible. A real deep clean is required imo, a complete change of identity.
Still a better result that what Sunderland achieved last night mate. If you think she is worth it, then stick around. Took me ages to find someone worthwhile and she doesn't even live in York
My son sent me a text this morning after reading somewhere that 5% of Sunderland supporters still believe that we will survive????? WTF are these deluded twats drinking FFS?
Agreed, but you can't rearrange your front room until you've cleared up the mess. The key is getting our average wage below the championship average imo. That will get us running in the black with the para payments and a better position to pay our bills. All about the finance now for imo. Once it's sorted, we could be easier sold by which point Moyes will be a lot cheaper to sack should he still deserve it. Folk need to stop looking to the pitch for the fix, Short isn't, unless we're in danger of a champ relegation battle nobody should expect decent player investment or manager changes. It's not going to happen. All the matters is that our revenue is in order and we can bet our arses that is Short's focus. I think it's much more likely Short is targeting a year 3 promotion rather than a 1 year. I think folk need to get used to a boring dull championship campaign next season.
A clean sweep is required mate, whether that involves the manager or not, the playing staff need a major overhaul, get rid of all the crocks and has beens and start all over again with a new squad next season. TBH, I haven't seen a lot of them this season as i'm overseas, but from the little I have seen, I wouldn't be keeping many from the current squad. We need a major clear-out otherwise we will just keep serving up the same old dross and lame excuses. We need a strong manager to stand up and admit that we simply aren't good enough and make the necessary changes to put things right.
I think there must have been a few barcodes masquerading as Sunderland fans as well. Lets face it, there's plenty on here all the time.
No but I've seen people saying they prefer the Championship, we do well in the Championship and we'll win loads of games in the Championship. I think a lot of people will get a shock to the system next season.
Agree, and the more current players who continue playing for us next year, the more the losing mentality, the acceptance of '' oh well, we just don't expect to come off the field as a winner'' will continue
Wage bill mate. That what's matters now. Our biggest outgoing. I think we'll strip the squad like, but we won't be able to build a promotion challenging squad straight away. This will be our contracted squad at the end of the season which will need to be trimmed. Everyone who stays has their wage reduced as they all have clauses. Squad. Pickford (sold) Mannone(sold) Mika(Keep with wage reduction) Kone(sold) Papy(could be sold) McNair(Keep with wage reduction) Oviado(Keep with wage reduction) Jones (Keep with wage reduction) Love (Keep with wage reduction) Rodwell (Keep with wage reduction, we couldn't shift him anyway) Catts (could sell) N'Dong (could sell) Gibson (ffs) Watmore (Keep with wage reduction) Khazri (Sold) Borini (Sold) Defoe (Released if rumors are true) Lens (Sell) that's a 16 man squad. Already well cleared with some salable assets. I think Short can get the wages really low, we could get that list as low as 8 players. Then he needs to keep it low to maintain positive revenue so bulk the squad out with u23s and cheap buys. That's what I expect from the first season in the champ. We need to sign a lot of players so we won't be making big expensive signings. It's going to be dull dull dull.
Have to agree - some of the best times we've had in my lifetime as a SAFC fan have been in the second tier (even the old 3rd division was thoroughly enjoyable) but the club needs to be in the premier league from a financial standpoint! I'll have a cracking time fella - gigging in Berwick on the Saturday and just outside Edinburgh on the Sunday so staying just past the border half way between the 2 caravan parks. Kids, wife, family up there with me so will be a great weekend - better than watching that ****e on Saturday!! Although I will be at the Arsenal game!
Think we may keep Papy too - Gibson will be alright in the championship - he's rubbish in our (current) league but I reckon he'd do OK down there. Hope we keep N'Dong and I think Catts will stay too but if we can get £6m for him I'd probably say sell (only due to his injury record - he's far better than a £6m player if he's fully fit!). Think we will have wage reduction policies in place on the players and I'd like to see O'Shea given a coaching role at the club personally.
Aye agree pal. 14/15 years old watching us rip the championship to bits was class. 41,000 there week in week out to. Loved that season. Sounds like a good weekend. Hopefully it's not pissing down for you.
