I think we should continue the Lallana love in: Lallana currently averages a goal or assist every 99 minutes this season.
Losing Coutinho has taken it's toll more than I expected, we seem to be adjusting slowly. 3 points vs Everton will aid that recovey, such a random game that we could do without.
I would ike some of our older posters to compare this transformation to the job done on ray kennedy. I have only seen viedo but Kennedy was a forward at arsenal with a decent record who was signed liverpool either just before bob paisley took over or at the same time and he struggled to make an impact so Paisley made him a left midfielder. This switch aligned with one of the most dominent periods ever or the most dominant. He won 5 league titles i n7 years is there a comparison to be made here even on the level of transforming a players career?? @saintKlopp @Red Hadron Collider @johnsonsbaby @donga darko
I think Simon Mignolet is going to play against Everton and for foreseeable future. Karius have to accept his position on the bench for now.
A convincing away performance. Probably one of the better away performances in the PL so far this season. Clean sheet. With our defence I thought that even Boro could have got one. 5 in 5 for Origi.
Back then you need to remember we didn't see much football on the box so knowledge of other teams players could be a bit sketchy. My take on it was that the change in position was greater for Ray than Lala but he went from being a good player to a very good one but you have to take into account we became one of the greats of world football in that time. The thing i remember from watching Ray play was the (perfect) timing of his runs into the box & the calmness of his finishing i.e. his goal v Wolves in the match that clinched the title in 77*. One difference between the 2 is i think all LFC fans knew Kennedy was good enough for us though not necessarily working out the positional change where as quite a few had serious doubts about Lala *well that is how my memory remembers that match EDIT my memory is dreadful since on checking it was 76
Klopp has made the right decision. Karius may or may not cut it..... I can see a GK back on the shopping list in the summer.
so its not totally unlike lallana then. his second goal sounds quite like this. I thought kennedy's problem was he was slow? (according to tales in various sources)
certainly wasn't quick though tbh speed wasn't the big deal it is now. With Ray you also got the impression he strolled around games as he saw no need to waste energy running when the ball could do the work and would arrive in the box when required. Ray also came over as one of the good guys
Ray was less mobile than Lallana but far more cultured in the art of passing the ball, after his change from CF to midfield he needed a season to adjust(Paisley's 1st season as manager)but the following season he was the dogs bollocks. Him and Jimmy Case were a brilliant midfield combo, oh how I miss those days.
It's certainly going in that direction, but he's not there yet. Ray Kennedy is a legend. Good 2nd half performance last night after rather a jittery 1st. Mig made a couple of decent stops as well
He had hardly anything to do dribs. The minute migs makes a mistake people will say swap again or we need a new keeper lol.
he held one powderpuff header but saved one well at near post... i saw one a good keeper would have rushed out and just got easy that he barely got to outwide and was really close to going over line. He holds onto the ball unlike karius but he is so slow off the line its unreal
