The Dawson free kick was in a game which I think we lost 4-3. City looked down and out but made a great comeback and were unlucky not to draw. Despite the defeat it was a great match and one of my best memories of the game was the City fans rousing rendition of the local goal music whenever we scored - it really pissed their fans off.
It was the year we nearly went down from the Championship wasn't it? One of Brown's earlyish games and a good morale boost that we might have enough fight in us to get out of it seeing as they were Premier League at the time. That's the way I remember it anyway.
Wasn't it this game where we were treated to a rare Nicky Forster goal as well? Seem to think it was but could be wrong.
Two goals for Dawson (header and a free kick) and a Jon Parkin penalty. Much Pigbag related daftness in the away end, a classic night.
Yes, I remember the goal music piss take. Wasn't that one where the coaches seemed to get there in plenty of time and you could hear city fans singing in the away end about 45mins before kickoff?
I don't think it was the same game as the pig bag fun, but I did laugh at their response to City till I die, during the name change issue, as they sang City til July...it made me laugh anyway.
There was deffo one game at Boro around that time on the approach to the ground all you could hear was City were in full voice already in the ground. Sounded like many bevvies were enjoyed on the coaches. I'd come in on the train, similarly lubricated Probably why I struggle to remember which Boro away day is which....
The next trip after that was the "she said no Marlon" game in the first premiership season, with the aforementioned getting the last laugh with a goal in a 3-1 win
I'm not sure at all, but Dawson had an absolute screamer that day and after he scored 'that goal' someone shouted "Get your finger out Dawson you've done **** all"
