I'm not interested in adding Doyle to the squad. I think we have enough forwards with similar strike rates.

I don't think it can be said with absolute certainty that MM would have brought in better players if he had the same financial freedom.

Tabb, Nouble, roundly criticised this season.
Anderson blows very hot and cold.
The player we spent money on hasn't been seen
Veseli also straight into the cold
    Tunnicliffe's hardly pulling up trees.

No-body can really answer whether he would have pursued these players if the budget was bigger, maybe he asked for these players and the backroom staff sorted out the deal, we don't know, but i believe him when he says/said he was happy with what he has, and what he has, a team of average players is dong remarkably well.

I don't think we can get promoted with this current transfer policy but we've already come so far by sticking with it, I would prefer to let the squad grow with only one or 2 clever additions in the summer. Who really cares what the price tag is?

As an outsider, I'd say the difference between MM going back to Wolves for players, and agent Keane going back to Sunderland, is the position the clubs are in. Wolves are in league one with a squad on Premier League wages, and several players are clearly too good for that league, and want out. MM has used that to his advantage, bringing in unhappy players he knows will run through brick walls for him. To me that makes them value for money additions, and the relationship MM has with those players may have swayed some into joining.

Keane on the other hand was looking to buy from a club in a better position, with no need to sell. He was only ever going to be able to get players they didn't want. A smarter manager in that position would have looked elsewhere, but Keane lacked the experience and knowledge of the market to do so, so overspent.

Every transfer is a gamble to a certain extent, particularly when your budget is limited, so MM using his knowledge of Wolves to exploit their position seems perfectly logical to me.

Spanish we are in 7th place.

The way you are constantly putting Mick down, anyone would think we're 19th. Get a grip. I was very anti Royle when he came, and had no interest in him being here. However, that worked out alright and come the end I really enjoyed having Jewell.

You will never be satisfied with anything Mick does, and will be delighted when he's gone.

Mick is the first manager we've had since arguably Magilton, more like Royle who has performed a job over a calendar year. Can you not be thankful, or is that too much to ask from you?

I would say transforming a club filled with loanees, on a shoestring budget, from bottom of the league to competing with clubs spending a lot of money / being able to offer big wages in the space of 14 months is an amazing job.

If you don't think Mick has done a very very good job, then you will NEVER be satisfied with him at the helm of the club.

I really despair at times. For the first time in around 5 years, we have a good side not inundated with loanees yet people STILL LOVE to moan.

I actually wish we had Leadboots back..and thats me being genuine.
I think he would be ideal in McCarthy's team. Everyone goes on about needing flair players, but i think we could do with a decent ball winner in midfield, and i think he is (currently) better than Hyam at that job.

Good post but the obvious flaw in your arguement is that Mick brought the majority of these players in as FREE signings! Who knows what players Mick would have brought in IF he had the same amount of money that Keane and Jewell had! I suspect that he would have made some far wiser purchases that's for certain.

Whilst not disagreeing with you that MM would probably have spent the money more wisely,I think you have to take account of the change in financial circumstances generally (outside the Premiership)with better quality players available at lower prices or on frees.

Bakory Sako, Richard Stearman, Matt Jarvis, Micheal Kightley, SEB, Wayne Hennessey, Steven Fletcher... Just a few of Mick's signings during his spell at Wolves and when they were a Championship Club.

Not sure if this supports your argument or not.Only two of them play in the Premiership(as do McAuley and Delaney signed by previous incumbents at Town)

Fair point JWM, although as I said we don't know how the deals were done or if he would have gone for these players anyway if the budget was any different.

Think what your point shows, Big Al is that players are human not computer programmed collection of stats, and 1 set of fans could see a player as useless and another set see him as a hero.
take McGoldrick -Forest fans don't rate him too highly, and they refer to Chambers as calamity Luke. Fan Favourites here.

Even closer to Home pre and post loan Bullard were very different players.

Nah, sorry cant be persuaded to change my mind. For me MM is a very limited manager, who only knows one way which is grit, and determination, that will only get you so far!! Oh and now Paul Green, omg!!
Westlake, me thinks you are rather deluded, we could quite easily be in the bottom half come March, lets just wait until the end of the season before giving it large hey!! Paul Green, really!!!!

Spanish - you are certainly right, we COULD be in the bottom half come March. The Championship is such a close division. In my eyes we're the most overachieving club in the division, so there's a good chance we will slip, sure.

However Spanish, we COULD also be 5th and looking good for a place in the play offs. That's the nature of the division!

Unlike yourself who cannot wait for things to go wrong, I am absolutely LOVING and pleased with how our seasons going. I mean 7th, is brilliant right now. If that makes me deluded in your mind, then that's entirely up to you. However, if I want to state how well we're doing, be pleased by it and " give it large " then I WILL. You have been saying the same boring rubbish now for the past 3 months hoping it's about to go wrong at any moment.

Of course, should we lose to Bolton you will be the first on here telling everyone I told you so.

Should we beat Bolton, you won't be on here until Wednesday.

Out of interest, I assume you're called Spanish as you're either Spanish / working away or family connections?

Like you Westy, I am also enjoying our progress this season. We have not flirted with relegation at all, instead we have actually held a top six position briefly and look well placed to at least finish in the top half. That's good enough for me after the last few years.

You would think so San Diego.

However, we should sack Mick now as our style of play and his limitations are ruining the club.

Lets have an Ian Holloway / ALL OUT ATTACK manager. After all, style of play is CLEARLY the most important thing at our club, results are academic so long as we play pretty football with an unlimited manager at the helm. :)

    Hi there
Wolves supporter here. Great manager Mick, and a lot of Wolves supporters were sad to see him leave!
Just to clarify the above signings :

Bakary Sako was signed by Woves succesor Stale Solbakken
Wayne Hennessy was at the club when Mick was appointed
Steven Fletcher was signed when we were in the Premiership.

All good signings admittedly, but you must not forget that a lot of money was also wasted during the Mick era.

    Examples include

    Roger Johnson
    Jamie O'Hara
    Freddy Eastwood
    Jason Shackel
    Stefan Maierhofer
    Greg Halford
    Darren Ward
    Adam Hammill
    Steven Mouyokolo
    Jelle Van Dam
    Eggert Jonsson

This bunch cost us a fortune, so it wasn't all a bed of roses!

    Good luck for this season

Always had a soft spot for Ipswich going back to the days of Bobby Robson. I remember an FA cup replay back in the early 90's when we beat you at your place with a goal from a young Lee Mills!
