The rumour I have heard is that Michu is upset over ML's sacking and doesn't want to play.

But I would treat this as I would a Sports Direct report.

Michu will have seen how well Chico and Pablo played on Saturday - even if Michu wants to move on he is far better busting a gut and demonstrating what he can do.

When he is fully fit, of course.

ML probably did Michu no favours by playing him when he wasn't fit and he had Bony available (and Vasquez! <whistle>).

The one I heard at lunch time seemed more to do with cricket than football though to be fair....

On my 'value' thread you can see that Bony has made by far the most appearances of any of the strikers signed by our rivals this summer 27 starts and 7 substitute appearances (Jozy Altidore is the only guy who comes close, 22 starts and 9 subs).
With 12 important League games and at least 3 big cup games left he is due to finish the season (barring injury) with 42 starts and 7 substitute appearances.
I think Laudrup did him and us a favour by managing this situation correctly.
Unless it can be proved that Laudrup caused Michu's long term injury by playing him that is.

I recall when michu was not 100% fit as he had an Achilles problem and laudrup played him. He also played williams with a back problem. Im bloody sure he would have played tate after he wrapped himself around a tree but morriston hospital would not release him...Michu could have played but monk has said he wont rush things and of course he is right as he has been out a long time, Maybe he should have a run out with the reserves first...

Yeah I agree, he shouldn't be rushed...I'm sure Laudrup said a couple of weeks ago that it was very unlikely Michu would play a part in the derby (despite Michu targeting that game as his comeback).
Given his ankle swelled up in training this week I'm not surprised Monk didn't play him against Stoke either.

Whose to say what decision Monk would have made if he was in Laudrup's shoes in October/November...depends on a lot of factors and most importantly what the medics were advising him re: the risk.

Well taking 4 points from 2 games, when it took us 9 games under previous manager, cannot fault Monk!.................<ok>

...but Laudrup only lost 2 games against sides outside of the top 8.
Cardiff (a) and West Ham (a)

Hernandez, De Guzman and Dyer were still getting their first minutes back from injury against Fulham and West Ham.
Canas got off the bench at Cardiff too and made his first start tonight.

It stands to reason that we are starting to look sharp again and are picking up points, especially against the likes of Cardiff and Stoke.

It ain't tocket surgery terror , just wait till injured players get a bit more time .Was never really worried about how we would do the rest of the seaon when Laudrup was let go . It's the season after that worried me and still does.

It's too early to judge Monk yet. The 2 games he's had have both been winnable games. The next few are very difficult:
    Everton away (FA cup)
    Napoli home (EL)
    Liverpool away
    Napoli away (EL)
    Palace home
    Arsenal away
    West Brom home
    Everton away

Out of all those, I can only say there are 2 games I expect us to win - Palace and West Brom at home. I expect us to lose all the away games. Maybe get a draw somewhere if we're lucky.

My point is I would have expected those same results with Laudrup. My feelings haven't changed because Garry is now in charge.....

Does anyone think that the results we get in the next 8 games with Monk in charge will be better than what you think Laudrup would have gotten ?

I'm expecting 6/7 points and hoping we'll go through in 1 of the cups...exactly what I'd be expecting/hoping for under Laudrup
