Starting to really worry about possible transfers in the rumor mills and only Jenkins name being mentioned in decision making ....it s not a healthy scenario
Being linked with the likes of Gomis, Gylfi, Joe, Jonny Williams etc isn't bad roof and coukd have been worse given Monks 'lack of connections' as some were fearing. If we got most of them I'd consider it a good transfer window.
Could be that the rumour about Michu going to Qatar is just paper talk and an easy thing to say. Fact is here is a player that a year ago was making his debut for the Spanish national team. He can kiss goodbye to all that if he goes to Qatar. I'm not sure I believe that one.
Its not who gets brought in valley , its whose doing the bringing in . Its almost like Jenkins got Monk in so Huw could play manager ... like I say , not a good scenario imo .
You don't know that. It's well known that Monk won't have the connections but we have scouts and a backroom team that have been monitoring players for some time. The Club can't rely on the well connected managers of yesteryear like Laudrup so we have to go out and work hard to get players in. If that means Jenkins getting his hands dirty then so be it. We won't be complaining if Gomis bags 15 goals next season that's for sure.
Not really, Monk will most likely have given HJ a list of targets and it's HJ job on behalf of the club to get those targets in
Like what didn't happen with Laudrup and Sousa - both of whom wanted to pay market value fro quality players.
Quality like Aspas you mean? Don't get this nonsense about not buying quality. Bony, Pablo, Ki, Jonjo etc. Would have added Gylfi if it wasn't derailed by Rodgers.
Whats wrong with Aspes? Laudrup was working on a budget and Aspes was in range , that whole arguement you mention about Aspes has no merit . When Aspes and others of opportunity in that range dissappeared quickly in the transfer market , Laudrup made Jenkins go higher to get Bony ..... .never did set well with Huw no matter how well Bony worked out , whats not to understand . And before you sell Aspes short , wait till he at least plays regular for a bit imo
What's wrong with Aspas? Check his performances for Liverpool Laudrup wanted Aspas, the board bought Bony instead The link below is interesting. http://www.tribalfootball.com/artic...it-swansea-under-laudrup-4017058#.U6x1zNq9KK0
Only 2 reasons why Aspes started only 5 games ... Suarez and Sturridge ... you know sturridge , the guy who couldn't get a game at Chelsea, wonder how hes doing these days after finally getting a chance to play .
I agree Aspas hasn't been given a fair crack of the whip but he's hardly impressed when given the opportunity has he? If he had he'd be starting. I'm not defending Monk here nor am I having a go at Laudrup but Bony has proved to be the better signing by a million miles. Nobody gets it right all the time and sometimes signings work, sometimes not. Rodgers's signings tend to work spectaculaly well when they come off (Sinclair) but it's easy to forget the money he's spent on those that haven't like Aspas and Borini. Nobody mentions them yet look what they cost. The point I'm making is twofold - signings can be hit and miss for everyone but as a small club we can't afford flops whereas the bigger clubs tend to weather them a little better. We have to get this right.
"Would have added Gylfi if it wasn't derailed by Rodgers" Not as I remember it,Valley. Rodgers certainly wanted to sign Gylfi for Liverpool, Why should he be criticised for that? Gylfi was looking for the best deal he could get for himself, and there's nothing wrong,or unusual, about that, either. Once Spurs'and Liverpool showed interest,Swansea had no chance,so if anyone derailed Gylfi, it was Gylfi himself, and not Rodgers.
