Michu two years ago was a class above I agree. If he was still able to perform to that level then Napoli would be keeping him. We've seen the best of Michu I think.

Agree with that, but surely it's a case of weighing up the risk factor. One whack on the ankle and he could be out for 8-9 months etc.
How old is he now? 29,30?

The issue is though valley doesn't he have 12 months left to run. I cant imagine many if any clubs willing to take a chance on him. We have no choice as he is ours.

    QPR? ;)

Of course if we can't get rid of him then we should put him in the 25 man squad. However, I'd have thought that a club or two in Spain would be willing to take a chance on him.

If we were to loan him out, then I would prefer that it was not to another PL team<cheers>

I see this as the most likely outcome tbh, unless he fully embraces Monks way of doing things <ok>

He never fitted in with napoli from day one valley, not all players that were brilliant for one team will be the same for another team.....If monk can get him back to his best as he is only 29 years old then i would rather see that happen while we still have him than for him to go to another team and be a star again....If he dont make the grade then we will still have to pay his wages anyway.....I wont dismiss him without looking at him first that's for sure.

Because he's lost his confidence, form and because his injuries have taken it's toll. Will be interesting to see, now that he's fit (or nearly fit) if he'll feature for Napoli again this season. If not, that would mean he's played 8 games of top flight football in nearly 18 months by the time the new season starts in August.

The only thing I will say on that Valley is, he HAS done it in the PL, whether he is capable of doing that again is unknown, but time will tell. To take a look at him pre season costs us nothing and still leaves time to ship him out if he doesn't come up to where he gives the squad something. Let's not forget this guy was included in the Spanish squad when they were at their best. Potentially there has to be something there.

Agree. He's more than showed his potential. If he is able to rediscover the form of 2 and a half years ago then there's no disputing the ability that he had. I'm just arguing from the point that a lack of form for 2 years, coupled by two very serious operations is a big gamble to take, but as you say, we can use pre season (if we intend to have a look at him) to weigh up whether he can rediscover his form as let's be honest, even if at 50-75% of what he was capable of, would still strengthen the squad.

    Time will tell <cheers>

Unless Michu has had a big change of heart he will never don the Swansea shirt again, of that I'm certain. He will not get near the squad unless his views have altered, the last thing the team needs now is a disruptive influence on and off the field. If he has had a change of heart which I strongly doubt then of course he would be an asset to the club. I believe he will be offloaded in the summer probably for a nominal fee.

    What views?
He didn't like the way the squad and his boss was being undermined. I'd applaud him for loyalty.
As for attitude on the pitch - always wanting to give 100% and became hugely frustrated his body was letting him down.
He went, like several others, when it was made crystal clear he wasn't wanted.

Michu was not forced out of the club far from it. Himself Chico and Hernandez were all part of the clubs plans. Each one asked to move on that is an absolute certainty and they were all granted their requests.

Or is it that the club was being undermined by the manager's negligence and a clique within the squad?

(Sorry, I'm sure we don't want to drag this up again, but Bob started it) ;)

Give Michu the chance. You have all given Siggy a second chance after he turned on the idea of joining us after Rodgers went, and joined Spurs, so why is it, that Siggy was given a second chance, but some are not willing to give Michu the second chance?

Michu has had his injuries, but he is confident of his ankle after his last op, so lets give the lad a chance, he won't do it whilst at Napoli, as he won't get the game time needed to pick up his form, so get him back here, get him in the 25 man squad, and lets give the guy a chance.

Why Michu left is something we will never truly understand, for me personally, I believe Michu came here for Laudrup, that he become close to him, and took it harder than most, and that he could't fathom why half of the fans also turned on Laudrup, which may explain his lack of goodbye when he left. We all knew that the guy is an emotional bloke, you could see it in the way he played, its what made Michu, well Michu. That doesn't mean he hates the club, or hates the fans, we all have our moments, are we expected to think he is any more different than us? The guy has feelings, and who knows what he was feeling at the time, along with having to go through the whole thing of his ankles giving him problems. Its all guess work. Either way, get him back here, get him in a swans shirt and give the lad a chance. He certainly will have my full support.

Dragon you're explanation why Michu left is is absolutely correct. Fans would indeed welcome him back, after all he is a quality player. The reason I say he won't return is that IMO he doesn't want to play for the club again. He certainly enjoyed his time here and has great affection for the fans but I believe the rift between him and the club when ML left runs too deep. As you stated, quite correctly, he felt hurt by the sacking of ML and made his feelings known at the club. I for one would love to see him back and be happy to see him don the shirt again but barring a miracle it's just not going to happen.

I just wonder in the absence of 3 or 4 other Spanish players his attitude may change. The supposed clique that was here has now been split up and maybe he would find it easier to come back in their absence. It may well that because of their departures he wants nothing to do with us. This is time for GM to put the past aside and use his man management skills and get him back on board. see h

He will come back if napoli dont want him and that's great but whether he can regain his form is determined how good his ankle is and whether it is properly sorted out once and for all and not beak down after a couple of games. I hope everything will be ok and we see the proper michu turn out for us again...
