He won many trophies as a player....There was nobody better and one of my favorite players of all time but he should realize his level in management now as he has had a go and i wont say he has failed but he is not a manager who will be good enough for a really big team and his arrogance has turned fans of all clubs heads into seeing what a big ego he has. He made a huge mistake there as nobody wants someone who thinks he is too good for the majority of teams.
Runner up with Getafe? Or did they win it? Not sure. Either way, Ive said my piece and this debate is just going to get my blood pressure going up yet again. In particular, Mr Knowitall you really ought to get your facts right before typing incorrect information. Daiswan isn't Penclawdd's village idiot - he failed the promotion exam.
He's won 3 trophies - How many has Monk or Rodgers won? Finished runner up in the Spanish cup Came runners up in the Danish league 2/3 times also. What has Monk ever done to be worthy of such gushing praise from you and your ilk...**** all is the answer. Them's are facts Dai
Dai won't answer mate, you know he won't, he never backs up his claims with FACTS as he likes to claim he talks.
An interesting list of achievements, but your question was not about achievements but about naming Managers who have won more trophies at small clubs. As your reply infers, Brondby is not a small club in Denmark - they are second only to FCC Kopenhavn for the number of Danish Superliga wins (6 to Kopenhavn's 10). As such, based on your list Laudrup has won one trophy with a small club, namely the League Cup with Swansea.
And as for mentioning monk are you seriously saying that laudrup is great because he won more cups than monk who has not managed a season yet i love it
It is true that Monk hasn't even completed a season. It is also true he hasn't achieved a thing in management. So why the gushing praise? Put that side by side with the vitriol towards Laudrup (the only manager to have delivered a major trophy in 101 years...the only one in your claimed 50 odd years as a supporter) and it all adds up to a very strange unpleasant character indeed
But based on your list, Laudrup has won "only" one trophy with a small club - Brondby being a "big" club in Denmark - and for that League Cup win with Swansea, I will always be grateful to him. Roberto won the FA Cup with Wigan - does that rank comparably?
Ok you're right I'm wrong on no. of trophies. You didn't answer my question put directly to you though did you...name me a manager who's achieved more with limited resources. If you can't answer that one answer me this... Has Michael Laudrup; a) under achieved with the clubs he has manged b) over achieved or c) achieved what should have been expected of him
In terms of limited resources, again you could look at Roberto's achievements at Wigan. As for (a), he probably under achieved at Spartak (b) over achieved at Swansea and Getafe (c) probably achieved what he should have done at Mallorca and Brondby - Brondby had won the Danish Superliga 5 times before his arrival. Thanks for the debate - I must take "she who must be obeyed" out for the afternoon!
- Roberto did win a major trophy. As did Laudrup. - Laudrup came very near to achieving the same in Spain. Martinez hasn't come runner-up in another major trophy or managed anywhere else. - Laudrup also won the double in Denmark (they were a big club in Denmark (they haven't been in the top 2 in the 8/9 years since he left) he had to coach a young team. Success wasn't bought for him there. Martinez hasn't delivered such success yet. - Laudrup has also taken 2 small clubs through to the latter stages of European competition. We will see how Roberto does with his considerable resources this year. Martinez is a widely respected coach who after a promotion with Swansea, winning the relegation battle with Wigan year on year (we have comparable resources to Wigan, Laudrup finished mid table) and a cup win....got a "promotion" to a big club. Thank-you for making my point for me.
The will by some to give Laudrup no credit at all says more about some than Laudrup , incredible really !!
