Don't think I've ever seen that reaction after a match! Don't think Taylor liked Barneys pre match comments lol
Van Gerwen has been a breath of fresh air this tournament and fully deserves his chance but will find himself standing on the same stage as the greatest player the game has ever seen in 2 days time and that will have its effect. However, this kid shows no fear (as befits a 23 year old) and if Taylor plays like he did for the last 4 or 5 sets then van Gerwen will stuff him imo. Then again, if he wobbles and misses those doubles (his only achilles heel) then The Power will exploit that and nail him. Its a classic case of the old master against the young pretender and should be a belter of a final. If I had to pick a winner then right now it would be van Gerwen. He just has the look of a winner about him. Taylor's poor sportsmanship at the end there towards Barney showed a chink in his armour imo and one that van Gerwen will exploit.
Taylor will do well to deal with Van Gerwen. Such a heavy scorer and great temperament. I think much will come down to how the power deals with the emotion of the occasion re: Sid and all that. He'll either channel it into a supercharged performance or get too worked up. I thought they were gonna be laying on at the end! I never knew darts was a contact sport
My thoughts exactly Cest. Taylor was all chest out and fine when he raced to 5-1, then he starts missing his doubles, complacency perhaps, and there's a breeze, he looked shot for a minute. The sign of a great though that he gathered himself and closed it out, can't ****ing wait for the final. Hope it's back at the Seaburn Centre at some point, great craic.
**** me I hope Bale doesn't hear that, or he'll be down the Ally Pally chucking himself owwa every 5 minutes. Lol
