I am sure Manchester United fans would hold no grudge if Rooney went to Real and came back and signed a contract with Liverpool, am sure the love would not diminish a quantum I'm sure they'd display nothing but love for the man
What does he mean? Personally im not keen on him, think he is so full of himself. For instance, will only play in the Prem would never ever ever consider dropping a league, fair enough his choice. But also on Newc not offering him a new contract and him saying theyd just been relgated so would have been financial suicide Well Owen some players show a bit of loyalty sometimes and maybe it wouldnt hurt for you to be paid 10,000 less a week But what do you reckon he means with the Istanbul thing? Couldnt give a toss about him but thanks for the goals. Hes not exactly been considerate to us
I'm not 100% sure what it means hence me saying 'make of that what you will'. However, If I was forced to break it down I would say he is a guy that is never going to admit to having a regret (I'm sure many of us can relate to this) but he also knew that people wouldn't swallow it 100% because of Istanbul so he made reference to it to show that he is aware what people will think. It also suggests that he would have liked to have won the European Cup (whether with Liverpool or not) but it wasn't to be. Edit: reading his blog and comments he has made in the past, I reckon he would have preferred to have won the trophies he did with Liverpool TBH. Would he have stayed at Liverpool his entire career had we been more successful? I doubt it because he made a point very early on in his career that he wanted to test him self abroad. Not sure twelve months as the back-up striker at Real Madrid counts but still...
Oh well, his loss. In his day, he was awesome but after injury and losing his pace he was nowhere near as effective Good player but some things coming out about him like best ever and all this **** turns my stomach Same with this Rio thing, im ****ing sick of hearing about it mate
He admits the injury part him self in the blog (OP). I don't blame him for leaving Liverpool because the choice between us and Real Madrid at that time was a very easy choice for a young lad with ambitions of playing abroad and winning honours. Yes they had Raul and Ronaldo (the real one) but Owen had self belief and he thought he was good enough to force his way into the side. I can understand him not us when he went to Newcastle if it was down to the transfer fee as that's up to the clubs, not the player. I can even understand him joining Man Utd, it was one last chance to win major honours and that self belief remained intact so he thought he could force his way into the side. Stoke was probably as good as it got last summer for him so no complaints there either. I never really liked Owen whilst he was still at Liverpool TBH. He was a cracking player but I never saw him in the same light as Fowler, Macca, Carra, etc. I said very early on that he was all pace and right foot and called that he would struggle if he was unable to adapt his game later on, something I didn't think he could do. However, the thing that I disliked was his clear preference for England over Liverpool (and then Newcastle too). Yes, a player should want to play for their country and they should be immensely proud to win a cap but the domestic club pays your wages. Liverpool, Madrid, Newcastle, Man Utd, they were his bread and butter! Being out injured for a fortnight, month, quarter or longer should mean you fight to get fit to play for the clubs first team again, not ****off to play for your national side straight away to return injured! I will forever be grateful to Mo for the joys he gave us Liverpool fans (same goes for Torres), but we all have to move on with life and there will always be another hero. Currently it is Suarez, in three or four years time (possibly sooner) it will be somebody else. That's football
Yeah good write up. I never saw him in the same light as the other legends also I can understand him joining Utd but that obv doesnt mean im happy about it but I dont give that much of a ****. If Suarez were to join them that would be another matter! To me ive always thought hes seemed like a smarmy little nob and some of what hes saying now, and to hear him talk aboutt himself in the way he does just confirms it for me Yeah Carra told Rafa to bring him back didnt he? But the price was high and basically we got Ngog instead
Now there is a tough one... £17m for Owen or £2.5m for N'Gog...? Obviously, I wasn't happy about him joining Man Utd but I can hand on heart say I was ten times more pissed off about Fowler joining Leeds! Probably about seven times for Torres going to Chelsea
Torres is a **** and im glad hes doing ****. Im not one of these its a shame to see him struggling **** him with a big purple dildo But you cant knock Fowler! I liked when he scored (was it for Leeds or City?) and he held the 5 fingers up to Utd fans
Basically OWEN - ****ed off , TORRES - ****ed off , GOD - was ****ed off Robbie was sold after a training ground bust up with Phil Thompson, Sander Westerveld was sold in the summer for revealing the truth behind Gods sale. Robbie pinged a ball near Phil Thompson and got a bit of grief off Thommo to which Robbie replied '' shut up ya div, if i wanted to hit ya with the ball I'd take your ****ing head off'' Houllier decided no one will talk to his assistant like that in front of everyone and sold him as an example , no matter how good or fan fave you are youre not indispensible.
Obviously I didn't Fowler to go but Leeds where top four at that time having just been in a CL semi-final too, they were very much a rival. Much like Chelsea when Torres joined them
Reading Robbie's book, Houllier seemed to have a problem with him from day one. Although I must say, Carragher and Gerrard never had a bad word to say about Houllier
