Let`s enjoy it while he`s here. A manager who builds a smaller club up to bigger things, is likely to get more recognition, and remembered more than a manager who goes to a large club for a short period and fails. Just saying like!!!! Is`nt there going to be some other news in the not too distant future about stadium naming rights, amongst other things???
I thought Liberty had extended their initial 5 year deal to 10 years in 2008. My understanding is its not up until 2015, but negotiations should start in the next year.
Oh, I like that, Yankee_Jack, â by the way, if he chose to lace up his boots, he probably could have murdered poor Bradford all by himself.â A couple of his players just said something along that line, I think. Thatâs whatâs itâs all about, Dai, with all respect, you donât seem to know MLâs thinking, being all so cleverly analyzing⦠Remember the way ML put Stoichkopf in line when he first arrived in Barca as the gentâs street fighter â not the other way around? Never underestimate MLâs sense of the good life in the boysâ favourite game. Enjoy, jack bastards, or suffer the consequences! I envy you, guys.
Watching the way we play and the comments from the players I'd say the "Liberty" is an apt name for the stadium
Some great news coming out of the club. I like many think it's great news that Laudrup has increased his contract. But as Dai say's, I feel Huw has made sure, that should any of the big boys come calling, were covered in the old compo stakes.
Today, 08:48 PM #27 PoulsanDK Nobody especially me is saying he is going but we have seen this all before that the club says the manager has signed an extension only for that same manager to leave a few months later...As it stands he only has one season left on his contract and if real madrid do tempt him then we as a club would get sod all for him. He cant sign a long term contract as that could put off clubs paying us mega bucks for him so the logical thing to do is just increase it by a year where should he do go then we will be reasonably compensated.......The signing of just a year is significant given his comments recently that he would be interested in the real madrid offer. like i said we have seen this ploy before and its a good ploy...
Ploy? Its happened once and you make it sound like Huw knew BR was going! It gives us protection, sure, but have some faith mate! I suppose we will only see whose right come August, afterall, they say a week is a long time in politics and football.
"We've started something this season that I want to continue," Laudrup said. "I know there has been a lot of speculation [about my future], but I've always said that I am happy here and I never had any doubts I would stay. I am delighted to sign the new deal and I'm already really looking forward to next season. I hope there will be some very exciting things happening with the team and with the club in Europe." Quoted from the Guardian Don't think he is going anywhere next season guys
That's indeed good news. I wouldn't want Laudrup to be any other place than Swansea. I know that he's been linked to a lot of big clubs, but personally I don't think he's proven himself yet. If he does well next season too then maybe he'll get a call from Real Madrid, but before then I think it's too soon to be worrying.
i do think Dai called it correctly, however i am delighted Laudrup's an extension signed and i am very optimistic he'll be here next season, hell i bloody so, hasn't this season just been the best. But i still expect the press to link him with every major club managerial vacancy here and abroad and i do expect some anxious moments during the close season despite this good news.
can't argue with that ... time will tell, it always does. actions speak louder than words; and so far much fewer words, far more action.
I told Dai, our number one fan the other week Laudrup was going nowhere, of course he didn't believe me, but then I don't have his contacts at the Liberty!..........
what are you on about we will see who is right and who is wrong,There is no right or wrong. you make it look like point scoring.....all we are saying is we have seen this ploy before where a manager signs an extension only to leave when a big club comes in for him,,,,,at no time has anyone said he is definitely going or staying...
I'm actually in agreement with Dai on this. If a club of the size of Madrid, Barca or even Arsenal come in for him then I think he will move on. However if it truly is not a huge club then I think he will stay. Either way, we are in a win win situation as if he stays we great a great manager with the ability to attract good players to the club, or we will be handsomely rewarded through compensation. He won't leave unless a massive club come in for him as he is looking forward to the challenge that Europe brings us next season.
