I don't disagree, it can indeed add entertainment, but the odds that the likes of ladbrokes, william hill, corals and betfred offer in shop are truly awful. they all offer hugely better odds on their online sites and even those odds are awful! Next time you go into your local ladbrokes pick a few games randomly from the coupon and ask them if they can get you a price from their internet site - compare. you will likely be getting 6/5 in shop and it will be 6/4 online! then log onto a betting exchange an see what the price really ought to be - likely 9/5! like i say - a bunch of thieving scumbags.

True, but people on betfair don't have massive overheads, including the legal requirement to purchase extortionate licenses from the Government in order to operate in the UK. And a lot of online websites, such as William Hill and Victor Chandler run out of Gibraltar.

I disagree - how can the likes of john lewis offer the same prices online as they do in shop? This is all down to competition - on the high street there is only 6 or 7 large bookmakers and a few independent operators. online there are upwards of 70 or 80 sports books - their prices have to be better or no-one would bet with them! High street bookies are taking people for mugs. That's where the thieving scumbags bit comes in.

"Former Newcastle United striker Michael Chopra has revealed he has blown a staggering £2,000,000 on gambling".

I'm no gambler but I bet he hasn't.

Clubs should do more to help players learn the effects of wasting money on gambling and what can happen, especially with them earning so much. But in general society more should be done as it doesn't just happen to professional footballers.
