Most websites these days block most bots through the robots.txt file so that you can chose which bots get access. If you don't it can slow your website down to a crawl (pun intended). I've never had an issue with Google bots, but know quite a few others that can do a lot of damage to the speed of the site.
Well I just used Google bots as a common example of bots. Not to blame them. It will be something more sinister carrying nasties that do the damage. like Malware. Corruption in the coding doesn't have to be caused by bots though, but if they're not sorted they create more problems, that's the main point I was making
Whatever the issue, I don't think it is as terminal as you think. Most coding errors for a site that was working well are to do with updates. Coding errors are relatively easy to fix once found (not always easy to find), and errors caused by updates can be fixed by rolling back the updates and re-applying them step by step. I am sure the site will be around for a while yet.
Sweet. Tell him to fix the log in or it will die a slow painful death. Besides, some people have some parody accounts to set up
We'll have that in May once the mackems realise the trap door looms. They will all be ****ting themselves
This. And Mick has a big stiff screwdriver to help fix things... as long as he knows where to find it.
I haven't been involved in web site building for a fairly long time, but if my understanding is still correct then 'bots' (google or otherwise) only visit a site just like we do. They will collect data but there is zero way that they can change anything on the site in terms of coding. It has to be said, a few months ago another site I and a few others on here used to frequent decided to close down, and I made a point of directing people to this forum. Bit of a muck up considering people couldn't even fecking get an account. That's piss poor tbh. Also I've noticed the search function hasn't worked for a long time. We have to thank the people who run the site as it's been a great place to hang out, but, like has been said, it will die a death if it's not maintained.
Come on Bri tell it like it was Newcastle with a very good finish to the season were crowing about how they were safe, untill another team with an incredible finish showed their superiority once again , to be honest I would not mind Newcastle getting one over Sunderland soon as it is beginning to border on boring , it was far more satisfying when they could offer some real opposition
Looks like the first real-time Mexit of this thread.....more to follow, no doubt http://www.not606.com/threads/haway-then.336014/page-3
Always the way in their twisted little world, they're allowed to prematurely claim victories(which they end up not winning anyway), but when we actually claim victory they'll trot out any excuse under the some to rob us of credit. Never managed though, worst robbers in the world. They just get laughed at.
Well, Bri, the way you dealt with Red-and-white Wanderer was mighty impressive...I really didn't expect you to embrace Mexit so quickly. Maybe you need a Mexit thread of your own? You encapsulated the whole Mexit movement in one go.....leave and don't come back!....only it wasn't you it was poor old Wandy who Mexited You showed Mexit in all its glory....well done fella, marvellous
