Now forgive if I'm being thick here but that's just the salary cap that is 110% of their income - so if they make £100m they pay out £110m in wages ALONE but its actually worse than that as they'll be paying bills and other expenditures and I'd love to know what the interest rate is on E500m debt: "The club, laboring under a 488 million-euro net debt pile, ran up nearly 100 million euros of losses last year." How are they not already bankrupt? If you are adding an extra 20% on your owed debt each year that is not sustainable - and I'd suggest at nearly £500m debt with no Messi to sell now and their ENTIRE squad being worth £675m according to transfer market they could be in serious trouble relatively soon especially if FFP catches up to them.
Mental really that they had a player they could have sold for upwards of 100m a year ago and then allowed this to happen and for him to go on a free. You can see why they wanted the ESL.
Those are not good figures, then again if they can gain an income stream then it can be worked with. For example the AA had £2.6bn worth of debt and was still able to trade at a profit. The issue is servicing the debts to allow re-financing of the debt and / or getting additional investment / income streams. The ESL would be that stream, hence them remaining members.
Barca are in debt because of Messi. This garbage that he loves the club. Hold them to ransom last summer to get a higher wage. Messi is a crook.
However they still wouldn't be able to register him as without him their wages is 95% of income and limit is 70%. As it stands Depay and Aguero can't be registered either.
Hence why the want the ESL. Barcelona should be kicked out of Europe for breaching FFP. Those figures are inexcusable.
mother clubs will be the same mate. They are going against the spirit of the game by racking up lots of debt to get one over on the competition. Hope all the **** comes home to roost.
