I edited the post to account for this kind of comment

I did say I'm sure it's great for them in the first place.

Do you think it's good for the sport? That's, really my point... Football was bad once TV money came in but since the Chelsea takeover and other including City it's taking the hope away from the majority of fans at all clubs..

It's going to get boring even for the big clubs imo
We're sat here blaming Mike ashley, Steve Bruce and really there's nothing they can do... The problems way beyond them.

Good for the sport as a sport or as a glorified dick measuring contest?

As a sport, City easily play some of the best football you'll see. If you're a lover of the game, City are the team to watch.

They have top level club fan interaction, have invested in the area and to boot have played stunning football since that first Mansoor season.

Theres money in professional sports, that's just how it is. Was Mayweather killing boxing? He made all the money and won every fight.

Every club in the league out performs Newcastle in the transfer market, I hate how some on here try to speak for the game. While Fulham are owned by a man worth $9Billion and Everton try and sign James Rodriguez.

Newcastle are the problem, not the other teams doing well.

Well that's your opinion and I respect that but I find watching City and that European style boring personally.

Sport should be competitive... Football is heading towards the same kind of dull event as formula 1.

You've only got to look at the distribution of trophies over the last 20 years and compare it to the 100 before to see the way its gone.

The sooner they all **** off and have a super league the better..

Mayweather sucked the life out of boxing imo btw... Held all the cards and was boring as **** mate

I take your point about money invested in Manchester though there's plusses to it and like I originally said I was more than happy with the thought of being the next spoilt fanbase... Unfortunately I'm not so **** them <laugh>

The Premier League has become the financial gray train, with lots of average players earning silly money that they couldn't get elsewhere. Which has in turn inflated the wages above them up and up and up as agents pressed for the best deals for their clients (and themselves too). Has this produced better teams? Domestically it has allowed teams to produce stronger squads that can compete over the course of a long physical season and to keep a higher level of performance and tempo, however in European competition a lot of these teams are shown up against what is theoretically weaker opposition.

In the past when teams started spending big, there was a trickle down of players that couldn't get minutes at the clubs, that doesn't really happen in the same way, as they tend to build a squad of 25 not 15 or so. Most of these players are sat on deals that they wouldn't get elsewhere, so there's not really the motivation to seek a move.

At the same time we have a very frugle owner, that 20 years ago would have been a blessing that we had a sustainable model, when other clubs were over stretching and struggling to stay afloat. The few times he has invested in players either big (comparable) money or long deals, they have been the wrong players and he's got his fingers burnt. Look at McClaren, he brought in good players (that have since gone on to be successful elsewhere), but couldn't get them to play as a team and we struggled to recover and needed a full overhaul.

The top 6 is extremely competitive. I think the entire system right now is better than it being the Man Utd league.

But I've been on this forum a long time, I know when no one will change an opinion so theres no point discussing it really.

Man united league wascpost TV money.. I think it might be an age thing tbh.. Most of the younger gen have been brought up knowing only things as they are and they like it yet the older lot tend to disagree.

It's like the film situation.. These days the younge gen prefer special effects and dramatic music but the story line doesn't seem to matter so much.

Nobodies trying to change anyone's opinion

Honestly. I think a lot more people need to say to themselves honestly - is this sport for me anymore?

If you don't enjoy it, stop watching. Thats my opinion anyway.

If Newcastle get boring, I stop watching. I don't owe them anything - its a game.

I stopped going, but I still care.. I think that's the problem. Its like a drug and newcastle fans had a taste of the nectar and they're chasing that hit.. I think that's part of the problem..
