For months they have laboriously explained how their wonderful SMT are doing fantastic work -remember their elation over the appointment of Performance Director Dr Will …. Hawtrey blew a gasket in his boxers when he was signed up. Remember “Brains” Mundell’s explanations of our Xg, and his Viagra-like reaction to Methven explaining how we were going to break even AND get promoted Remember how Brains smugly nodded when slippery Charlie said the rules were unfair, and those clubs spending money would come unstuck. Well, there’s Birmingham already with 15 points more than us - I know who’s position I’d rather be in now , don’t you ?? To Mundell & Seriously it’s not about football as a competitive sport , it’s about luxuriating in their own sanctimony. My next prediction is that Brains will turn on Nathan Jones and claim his SMT have given him a good budget , while good old Charles will urge the masses to “buy the occasional lounge pass” ….so we can buy a half decent replacement for Alfie May in January. This will be followed around November time with lengthy posts about a “three year rebuild”, and how Andy Scott deserves 14 transfer windows to get it right, with the fact that they now sell fried chicken in the car park on match days offered as evidence that their SMT are on track.

This was always the suspicion about their long game. Duchatelet then mothballs the Valley for a couple of years. The new Labour Government ramps up the pressure on local authorities like Greenwich to build more and more houses, to cope with the “expanding population”. You not have to look at Greenwich’s revised housing target from Labour to see that this is true. Duchatelet then goes to LB Greenwich in say 2027 and offers up the land for a planning decision, in return for a favourable deal. I don’t see how any of the above is unrealistic.
100% I have said this even when Dushitelet owned the club. He was not interested in the football. It was not coincidence that he kept the land when peanut head and gang came along.
You have said it from Day One to be fair. I am always very suspicious when a poster with pro Methven views, posting unchallenged on a forum that is well known to be pro Methven, starts claiming the Valley is too big for us. Particularly when the current temporary custodians never had any intention of buying the assets.
They do not even know how much The Valley would cost, supposedly. If true, that shows their lack of intent.
And they are tied to a lease that is costing them circa £600,000 a year under the terms Sandgaard negotiated with Duchatelet.
I really think that none of this will happen. I think we will still be playing at the Valley for the rest of my life, at least. As regards Methven. If he is dickybaby what he has posted shows he knows nothing about football fans, but we knew that already.
It’s reassuring that 606 is moderated by two lifelong & genuine Charlton fans @Dick Plumb1 and @lardiman who would not allow our platform to post this stuff without suspicion and challenge. The Valley is our home. End of.
If he ever posted on this forum he would be challenged on his views most vigorously. In fact I would welcome him posting on here.
If we ever left the Valley again I’d stop supporting the club the same day, and never go back. The club is the Valley to me, and many others of my generation.
