'Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.' Albert Einstein.
Why can't we have Simpson and Stewart playing at the same time? With so few games left we need wins so time for Barmby to gamble. Mannone Rosenior Chester Hobbs Dawson Stewart McKenna Evans Brady Simpson/King Fryatt
Thanks OLM, Ive heard so many variants of this quote, and always wondered who's brilliant mind made such a wonder observation. I guess we have all been called insane by our better halfs, turning out to watch City and hoping for different results
Im sure Einstein would agree that patience is called for in a time of transition, not everything is about the short term. The team has over achieved this season while still learning a new style of play that is pleasing on the eye. I suspect those folk that are moaning just now are the kind that get a manager sacked far before he deserves it!
Given how well they linked up with each other over the Christmas period last season it's worth a go. Nick needs to get his head out of the sand, part of being a manager is realising things aren't working and aiming to rectify those things.
theres a difference between keeping the ball, and good football.. you could train a set of chimps to pass the ball 5 feet along the backline over and over..... it has to have some end product and some urgency about it, 1 shot on goal in 30 minutes against ten men for supposed play off chasing team, is appalling, no matter what rose tinted spectacles you have on
Yeh ok mate, we are not just a few tweaks away from been a good well balanced team. Lets abandon all the hard work, change styles and what the hell...why dont we even sack the manager
Who said he doesn't look interested? NB said that he can't play in the lone striker role, and can't play on the wing, therefore he is fighting for Koren's role. Bit stupid really, as someone said above, if something's not working you should change rather than folding your arms and saying 'I'll be a fraud if I change it' Usual Back 5 Stewart Evans McKenna Brady Simpson McLean I'd give that a go but let's be honest, we probably won't change formation until next season at least.
To be honest I can hardly blame him, he's been in the same situation for over a year.. We've seen him come on in the past and put in 100%, but every man gets to a stage where it's impossible to keep your enthusiasm when no matter what you do, you're not even considered for the bench. Yesterday's HDM interview with Mannone is a prime example.
Bollocks. Simpson came back and Nick was a fan, he was put into the reserve squad to regain his match fitness, he decided he couldn't be arsed. **** him.
Simpson doesn't deserve to be in the first team, he scored 4 for Millwall hardly setting the world alight. Why all of a sudden has he become a top class striker?
You don't consider it a bit daft, the fact that we have absolutely no goals in the team and we're refusing to even bench a player who is probably on par with Fryatt? Pearson brought him in, he fed on scraps for months, and couldn't really be blamed for not scoring in the first half(ish)of the season - although granted he probably should have had one or two, but that's literally the maximum you could have expected judging by the chances.# Then he scores 4 goals in 2 games, looking terrific and terrorising defences with the help of Stewart. Fryatt and McLean come in and he barely plays for the rest of the season. He's shipped out to Millwall because he's behind Dele-****ing-Adebola in the pecking order, and despite being critisised for performances, scores a very respectable 4 in 11 (equating to 16-17 goals a season, may I add). Then he comes back to us, is promised a clean slate and a second chance by Barmby. He comes on against Ipswich in the cup in the dying minutes and instantly sets up Stewart for the clincher. After that he's never even been given a second on the pitch. How the hell would you feel after all that? It's far from as simple as 'he can't be arsed'
