Bit harsh like. Not just you mate, just responding to the latest thread, and I've had a few as well.

He's just another commentator with some space to fill in his press column in the close season. It's just padding.

Nothing's happening, he just has to say something about anything.

I don't get all this personal abuse.

The guy has his demons, most of us have.

I've probably slagged him off on here as well in the past, but he's still got a job to do.

    I'll shut up now.

“If I’m being honest, I think Sunderland will be happy just to stay up next year,” he told Sky Sports.

How does he know what we'll be happy with ffs ........ what are we, some 3rd world 4th division outfit <doh>

“They can have a go in the cups."

Well thank you for your kind invitation, Mr Merson, we'll try not to interfere with your season's enjoyment.

Lessons in survival mean nowt considering what Leics, Hull and almost NUFC did in the last quarter of the season. Surviving comfortably is the only realistic conclusion anyone could predict or hope. Punditry over.

The trouble is the players respond for so many matches then give up, I hope it never happens again. 4 quality players and we will do ok.

He still blames Quinny for his alcoholism.

According to Quinny's autobiography & I've no reason to doubt him, He, Merson & Tony Adams used to all go out on the piss together when they were all at Arsenal.
3, 4, 5 day benders. Adams regularly turned up for training still pissed as he states in his own book.
Adams blames no one but himself.
Quinny states that his lass pulled him out the ****.
Merson on the other hand takes no responsibility & blames others.

Sounds about right that, typical alchy trait that, blame some ****er else. I'm sure Quinny and Adams strapped him in a chair and poured the stuff down his neck.

There's a pub near Arsenal's old training ground at London Colney called The Chequers.
That's where they all used to go.
