I’ve 20% chance of heart attack in next 10 years (assuming nothing else gets me first). That’s even taking BP meds and statins. But you’re right, if anyone hasn’t checked they ought to.
Another week or so and it’s my year Chose the name on JA606 in 2007 - thought 2020 would be how long it would take for us to play in Champions League ........ little did I know.
I had a heart attack in April last year. Not your traditional clutching the chest type but what they call a silent heart attack. I didn't realiseI had had one as the only impact at the time wasI had to go in goal as I couldn't run around on pitch. After having what turned out to be angina symptons for the next few weeks I finally went to the Doc and the eventual outcome was a triple bypass last September. Anyway all is not lost I'm on the standard drugs for BP and cholesterol but am back playing full 11aside Vets footie on Sunday mornings, playing 8 a side for an hour on Tuesdays and gym for a couple of hours on Thursdays. All my readings are now satisfactory so there is hope.
2020 - my 10 year cardiovascular event risk was 28.9% before I went on any BP and cholesterol medication, now it's down at 18.5% just 6 months later. It would calculate down to 15.4% if I hadn't previously had a close relative under 60 with a heart condition - my dad died of a one off sudden massive heart attack out of the blue at the age of 54. We all have a laugh about it, but like 2020 says - if you don't know your figures then bloody find out whatever age you are. I'm 62 now and would never have thought about it seriously if it wasn't for that random visit to the doc about 6 months back. I felt back then (and still do) on top form, but it doesn't take a genius to accept that it can all go suddenly wrong even if you think you're OK.
One you get to my age (actually 68 whatever I joke about on here) it’s very hard to get below 15% whatever you do. You can model it yourself, just search online for qrisk
Agreed shaks, never met anyone who's going to live forever, what will be will be. If I had to go tomorrow so be it. Personally think life's mapped out for us from birth you get a start date but you don't know the end date. Just enjoy it while you can. Honestly think we spend too much time worrying relax and take it a day at a time.
Well it’s 9.15. I’d like to revise my prediction, pissed and Zimmer frame in action 15 minutes earlier than expected.
I like a tug now and again, keeps the blood pumping around the body and my prostate in good health ……so I've heard Merry Christmas to one and all, we my have our spats on here but at the end Of the day WE'RE ALL LEEDS AREN'T WE, (well, most of us)
