I'm not here for a fight, and taking the piss out of Brendan Rodgers is fine. But when it comes to Hillsborough, I'm with the Liverpool lads. Over 100 people died due to police incompetance, then the police lied pretending it was the fans' fault, and a national "newspaper" wrote ****e about fans pissing on the bodies of the dead. If that had happened to SAFC fans I'd go on & on about it years later. If a mate/relative of mine had died that way I'd never stop searching for justice. And it's to the credit of Liverpool fans that they never have. Just my 2p.
Sorry mate but it was partly their own fault & all they want to do is roast others. As I said before, they wallow in self pity but omit Heysel from the discussion. Until then they can go **** themselves.
Mistakes were undoubtedly made at Hillsborough ut it was possibly through a force of circumstances. The authorities have to provide a smoking gun as an indication that Liverpool fans had a role in this tragedy. Never will happen as who would want to admit contributing to the event.
For the bolded bit: How so? Heysel was a sad day for Liverpool football club, and our fans who charged the Juventus fans were mostly to blame for the sad deaths of 39 football fans. But Liverpool and its fans were punished and held accountable. The police at Hillsborough have never been punished or held accountable, even though the official government report pinpoints them as the main reason for 96 football fans losing their lives. Spot on. The main point about Hillsborough is it could've happened to any set of football fans. And the government and newspapers would've treated them and their families in exactly the same way. With contempt and a lack of respect, because the Tory government at the time hated working class football fans. Would anyone accept that and lie down? I doubt it.
Thousands turned up ticketless mate. Leppings Lane is a narrow alley. TBF you should have had the Kop End. It was a disaster waiting to happen but the Pool fans did themselves no favours.
The Taylor report ruled out thousands of fans turning up ticketless. It stated there were some without tickets but there wasn't a large body of LFC fans without tickets. Which points to it not being a factor in the disaster.
I have no problem who genuinely think it was the case (that lfc fans turned up w/out tickets) because its been repeated so often its become a fact in the eyes of most casual observers. You can't blame people for that, the families anger is directed at the people who should be held accountable like the newspaper editors and police officers who started the vicious rumours that Liverpool fans were to blame because they were drunk (disproved also) and turned up without tickets to cover their own backs, or in the newspapers case to create a shocking headline and sell papers.
Can I ask, if people didn't turn up without tickets, why there were so many people in the ground? This is a serious question, I am not wumming.
Fully agree but, if Enrique is surplus to requirements at the bin dippers then i reckon he would solve our LB problems.
This is all very interesting. I have been reading Alan Sugars most recent book and he talks about football a lot in it. On the point of players being mercenary he has a lot to say and picks out Darren Anderton as 1 player he was paying 20k a week to be injured but every time England qualified for a major tournament he suddenly got fit. Andertons agent apparently asked for an improved contract from Sugar and tried to hold him to ransom. Sugar goes on to talk about the program he made about the premier league and how irresponsibly run they are as far as being business's goes. He concludes with saying 90% of agents are scum and are what is killing the game of football. Its a really interesting read. On the subject of the Sun and newspapers in general he also has a lot to say and basiclly explains why all the tabloids (mainly The Sun and Daily Mail) talk bollox on a regular basis and non of it should be believed. He uses some quite prominent examples. I would not believe a thing the papers have written about Hillsborough.
I was walking through Toxteth as a 16 year old kid and got smacked in the head for carrying the sun newspaper, now that is ridiculous, unfortunately though that's how far some fans take it. I don't know the ins and outs of Hillsborough, nor have I ever read the Taylor report. The only thing I will say though, is if this was our club, putting my hand on my heart, im pretty sure I would be exactly the same as the Liverpool fans.
Hillsborough talk Anyone else ****ing sick of hearing about it? It was terrible, the police/sun are ****s. We ****ing get it - stop talking about it, it's boring.
