Guys I’d ignore the digital renders, the detail on the real car is unbelievable!

That floor!

I suspect we will see lots of floor details from testing given some cars covered them up at launch or have a basic spec

The Merc looks very different to the other cars! Look at the front wing!!!! The inboard ends are mega low and the height at the inside of the wheels is massive! They will be getting huge amounts of air to the under floor area and down the coke bottle.
Then the floor with the corrugated edge, and what looks like some sort of barge board tunnel!!!
The rear wing looks mega thick on the leading edge.

Either they are trying to throw their competitors off their design concept or this is one radical car. If they are doing a shake down run this after noon I doubt the car at the launch is the real one, but it does look the most radical of the launches so far.

At last, a team has used the wheel trims for a bit of a logo.

Looks like the have a couple of vacuum cleaners on the inlets to the floor. Wow.

Don't know why, but it looks big. Like really big.

this is actually one of the most interesting shots but its so annoying all the shows of the rear of car are basically pitch black so the diffuser is hidden.

This is the first car to show the intake is such detail as even the aston was hiding it a bit. the three vane inlet at the front and the rippled floor etc.

yes the front wing is VERY heavily outboard loaded, different to aston but totally opposite to i think williams? was it who are inboard

you are right this has to be to drive air down that underfloor and take the loss of downforce at the front and convert it into ground effect.

the wheel covers are actually longer than any other car ive seen. theres something there as well. the others have been stubbier.

the side pods are like the alpha. non existant so they are totally different to the ferrari and aston. This is another fundamental of design.

can you see after the ripples and under the petronas primax logo there is a join or something it actually looks very odd close up, almost like 5 metal protrusions are the looking to spin off vortexes to go up and out form that????

I think the wheel covers and rims are FIA items all from same manufacturer - BBS I think. SO they should be identical for all teams.
The Merc definitely is very different in philosophy to the others so far. They do always do things a little different to others i.e. long wheel base etc.

merc are covering the entire tyre. i've not seen this on any other car. they have all thus far looked the same as you have said.

I have only just bloody noticed the Ferrari ones are doing something different as WELL look at the bottom of the Ferrari ones above. the yellow pin stipe makes it obvious they are going quite low and curving inward.

Merc must see some advantage to have those covers out that far.

Sorry I thought you were talking about the wheel trims not the arch bits that go from brake ducts over the tyres. You are right those arch bits do cover much more of the tyres, might not help with drivers vision, so much be good reasons.
