To be honest communities have donated money for all sorts of things which are no longer there... particularly memorial hospitals...why not find a home for the gates at the new ground? They would look pretty cool if they were planned into the site...

Good idea.

We could have them moved to Trashton to give the tossers something to deface. :)

i think you are right. a war memorial is allowed to be moved. if people feel so upset about the gates remaining where it is - with sainsburys - then they should ask for it to be moved.

it would be fitting for it to go with bristol rugby. i doubt city would be upset about it and im sure they would welcome the gates.
or even bring the gates to a brand new stadium with us at UWE. however we will be out of bristol and i think they should remain in bristol.

i do think the 'deface' comment is a bit low though gas if you know what i mean. i think every red (apart from the dick who defaced the memorial) were really disgusted with what happened and they even paid to get it cleaned and fair shout to them in doing so.

Good thing about this, he has to appeal to the the Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport, who English Heritage went to with their results to see if they agreed with it before making their decision public and the Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport did agree.

So my guess is the Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport would be unlikely to change their decision!

And once the the Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport makes their decision on this appeal, the decision will be FINAL.

The whole things a wind up he's being paid 2 stir it up

wonder what UWE thinks of all this. of course he is a TRASH follower as has admitted so but he is employed by the university of bristol who are in competition with UWE who cant be pleased with this as UWE will have a massive advantage over university of bristol once the stadium is built.

I don't. It was done by Teds, signed by Teds. They're very busy telling us how disgraceful our club is with pitch invasions etc etc, then they can't have it both ways. The scum which defaced our memorial are as much a part of BCFC as those who paid for the cleanup.

This Carstairs spanner is disgusting. The English Heritage decision was ratified by DCMS - the very department he is appealing to! Twat.

fair comment <ok>

I have been told that the Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport has rejected the appeal which is the FINAL decision. No more appeals or reviews etc.

Not sure if its reliable though. Nothing on the OS or on the Official twitter.

its not a reliable source.

Tweet from Rovers....

"There has been some confusion following an article on http://www.bdonline.co.uk today, the article relates to the English Heritage decision and not the plans for a further appeal to the Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport."

So decision is still outstanding.
