Typically provocative and insulting. Apparently when she left, flanked by her bodyguards the fans turned their backs to her, which I guess is the best thing, as I believe she revels in attention. God knows what she tells Roland- this was a fans' event.
A certain type of person goes to these events at all clubs not just ours. Expecting a "confrontation" or anything else is naive as we all knew nothing would happen. Personally I don't see the appeal, as much as I like some of our players I have no desire to meet them and have awkward conversations in a tiny room.
Only 200 fans at the POTY dinner last night - down 50% on previous years less than 3,000 bothered voting for POTY. All points one way, doesn't it?
The only reason I would ever consider going to one of these events is when I have children and they were interested in it.
When directly asked about how ST sales were going, Meire gave an all-time classic answer, rich in lawyerly sophistry. "Sales in the North Lower and to Under 11s were going well", she assured fans
The whole business of surrounding herself with heavies whenever she's in the proximity of Charlton fans really gets up my nose. She's trying to present all Charlton fans as violent thugs who would physically attack a poor defenceless woman given the opportunity. She has clearly convinced Roland that her personal safety is at risk- he said so in his rant (sorry the senior management rant with Roland having input). This begs the question of why she stays in the job. I think she revels in this role she is playing.
I would have waited until Naby Sarr was standing next to her, and gone over and said... "OMG, Naby Sarr. Can believe I'm standing speaking to the Naby Sarr. Waiter, can you hold my bag and coat so I can have my picture with him." Then proceed to hand my belongings to her That's how you do things with style, not thuggish. And would probably piss her off more.
Getting relegated is nothing to celebrate but under the present circumstances Last nights event even more pointless.
It is pure attention seeking. - "look at me I am being brave despite these nasty people" etc. Remember how quickly the Bitch played the victim card after the "hand gestures" incident at the window earlier this season. Absolute shame on the "5" fans who asked her for an autograph last night - I would track them down and give them life bans
Interesting comment by Jose Riga last night, that he would like to stay but "would not be told what to do". Didn't Meire describe the idea of her interfering in team matters "mind-blowing" ?
According to a CL member who was there, when Riga said this it temporarily wiped the perm-smirk from her visage.
Riga, being the gentleman he is, thanked the players, staff and fans during his speech. Two people were notably omitted from his thanks. A fan who then spoke to him was told by Jose that he would like to stay, but would not be told what to do. Read into that what you like - I interpret it as Meire interfering in team selection again. Henderson also told fans that he was dropped for non-footballing reasons The Club is rotten to the core. Mid table at best next season in a shocking league whilst the Bitch remains.
I don't get why they interfere? They hire people to help them make better decisions; surely when you suffer relegation and they meddle too much they must think "yep! My fault!"
Because Charlton is their toy, and they will do what they like. They have made that clear from Day One. Roland is doing things "his way" don't forget, regardless of the fact it is akin to driving a battered wreck repeatedly into a brick wall.
