Is it just coincidence that these bad injuries/deaths don't seem to happen here in the English game? Obviously Spain have had quite a traumatic decade in terms of deaths in football, with the like of Antonio Puerta and Dani Jarque.

Freak accident, could happen anywhere, but pretty rare. Coincidence that it happened in Spain not here.
That was a pretty badly mistimed header, though, by Diop. Not on purpose, but he went in like a freight train. If he mistimed it that badly on the deck, he'd be sent off.
