Always willing to bow to superior knowledge... not many on this board are willing to do that... no names no packdrill
Not looking like a lasting union although the same could be said of Great great uncle Edward and Wallis Simpson who managed to hang on for life
Me too! I haven't read the Anglo-Saxon series (name escapes me) but I must get round to it. I believe @Nacho has read them though.
I read some of his books ages ago and I remember watching Sharpe on TV with my son 20 odd years ago... not much since
Yeah, that's about as much as I know about that series! I'll get round to reading them eventually, I'm sure. I'm just getting back into the historical fiction after a long time away from it. I've just read C.J Sansom's latest one. Been on the Nordic Noir and the non-fiction for a couple of years. They're good! I'd recommend the Arthurian series. Puts the story in quite a realistic setting I think.
I'm waiting for them to make the Warlord series about Arthur etc, a company associated with HBO has the option for it so fingers crossed. Seems like something that would work on tv. You're thinking of The Last Kingdom, I don't know how many you've seen but I didn't think much of it after seeing the first episode, rewatched it a year or two later to give it another go and I've seen them all now.
Read all the Last Kingdom books but couldn’t get into the TV version- possibly my imagination is less restrictive than a producer’s budget! Also read all the Arthurian series(a long time ago) but probably wort a revisit now
I know what you mean it didn't match up with what I had in mind either. Great show for me once I got used to it and I think as it went from series to series the budget grew but it's a shame it didn't have a Game of Thrones level budget given how good a writer he is.
Hands off mate, that's private! I guess you've done Wallander, Varg Veum and the stuff by Nesbo & Lackberg, aside from the obvious trilogy? Just started Lamentation by Sansom... it's turning out to be a good winter read.
I think i've read them all a number of times. Love the way that he mixes fact in with fiction in all his books.
Haha!! Yeah, I've done all of Nesbo and Wallander. Not done Varg Veum or Lackberg. I like Arnaldur Indriđasson and Yrsa Sigurdardottir. Have read all of them. I've just finished Tombland by Sansom. Really good!
