Truth be told, I've yet to see what I regard as a serious pro name change post, or 'not bothered' post. They all seem to be the work of trolls and 'look at me' posters.
OLM, can I ask if you would be prepared to represent this board if you discovered a majority were in favour of the name change? Would you be prepared to say "The board favours the change" even though you personally don't? Or would you feel that in that case you would have to withdraw as spokesperson?
It's somewhat academic, as the majority of the posters on this board are not in favour of a name change, in fact, barely anyone is.
Can Dr Allam provide a case study or some numbers that he believes the change of name will achieve, with regard to his belief that it will crack the Asian market and generate revenue? He needs to compare apples with apples and not cite Manchester United or Real Madrid as examples. Name a club of our size and stature that has achieved his stated aim. Similarly CTWD need to prove or at least present the case that it will have little or no effect to our revenue streams - which is my belief.
As a matter of interest which bigger clubs are not from cities? In any case being a city is not a reflection of size or importance. Ever been to Wells? I am totally opposed to changing the name by the way.
Isn't that the argument Stalin used to use? But why not answer the question rather then avoiding it? It's fairly straightforward. Are you to represent the "board" and therefore its views even if yours differ, or are you only prepared to represent those whose views you share? It's not a trick question. If you are only prepared to represent views matching your own then I for one would not endorse you as a representative of the board. If, however, you are prepared to represent majority views you don't agree with, then I am more then happy to cast my weight (such as it is) behind you, even though I disagree with you on this point. That's democracy.
Oh, FFS! Tell Lambo your opinion! He can then go to the meeting with a clear idea of how many support whichever point-of-view... Is it so difficult?
I'm Stalin now? The vast majority of posters on this board are against a name change, as has been proven on countless threads, just as it has on every other City board. If the majority were not against a name change, then there would be no campaign, no meeting and this thread wouldn't exist.
good point. I'm not sure if this consultation will achieve anything other than paying lip service to the BPL.
I don't like this idea. Allam wants to know what the fans representatives think not to have some view trotted out by everybody there. I do think there should be an agenda issued even if it is only one topic. Then the representatives can sound out people.
@ashlord23 4h People on the not606 forum follow me; I wasn't specific in my email invitations. I asked for the name of 'the chosen representative'. @ashlord23 4h Emails were sent to those who I knew were in certain supporters' groups, that's all.
Consider this a not bothered post. I've pretty much stayed out of this argument because, well, I don't care. I can't wade in on either side because, well, I don't care. This name change will not affect me one jot. My saturday afternoons will be spent doing exactly the same as they have for the past fifteen years or so, supporting my local football team. I have nothing more to add, I am not an attention seeker, I just don't care about the name change.
I don't think OLM is "representing" not606 as much as he will be telling Allam what the views of not606 members are. It's not like OLM will think he has carte blanche to put any view he wants.
I agree with this view but I don't think the Premier League will be fooled. They should be asked what they consider is genuine consultation.
What's in a name, eh? Your good lady might like your current pet name for her and would probably protest if you addressed her as 'Flabby tits' or worse. And if you countered with 'Well it's all the same to me' you'd be in bother.
I can confirm that the Premier League would not consider a meeting with a dozen people as a fan consultation.
